The traditional growth pattern of resource-based enterprises is relying on the predatory access to natural resources; waste generated in production and consumption, meanwhile, is discharged into the environment. This typically linear mode of development partly leads to gradually diminishing resources, even ultimately exhausted, and partly results in the aggravation of environmental pollution, thereby causing the resource non-saving and environment-unfriendly situation, while creating currently resources and environment under excessive pressure during the process of economic development in China. Consequently, changing the traditional development pattern of resource-based enterprises and promoting the transformation of the businesses into green growth path have become the focuses concerned by governments at all levels and scholars. Nevertheless, resource-based enterprises implementing the green transition in growth has not a universally successful model for reference, and normative research findings of management science in academic circles are rare as well. Therefore, this dissertation is in an attempt to make beneficial probe into theoretical study and determine the thinking framework of theoretical research.Firstly, due to the particularity of the resource-based enterprises, the seriously negative externality of the production process, the green transition in growth of the businesses cannot solely depend on one enterprise to accomplish, but be with upstream and downstream enterprises to form ecological industry chains similar to biological "food chains", so as to conduct by-product exchange and energy cascade utilization among these businesses. Thus, the resource-based enterprises in a resource gathering area form an enterprise ecological network. Ecological networks can provide the platform for the resource-based enterprises to implement green transition, simultaneously connections of various relations as well as knowledge and information sharing within the networks can lay a solid foundation for the green transition in growth of the businesses. Secondly, in light of relevant theories on the power of network and dynamic capability, this study identifying the green transition capability of resource-based enterprises has an important significance in achieving their development by green transition. The capability of green transition is essentially the dynamic ability of the resource-based enterprises in the ecological network. It can help resource-based enterprises more effectively carry out strategic planning, dynamically adjust relations&re-integrate resources in the ecological network, as well as conduct green innovation, which have a significant role in the transformation development of enterprises based on resources. Finally, differently from other types of businesses, the green transition performance of resource-based enterprises growth not only considers their competitive advantages and financial profits, but also takes the social responsibilities into account, namely reducing the waste of resources, limiting the destruction of ecological environment, etc.Hence, the resource-based enterprises in the transition process of development should make efforts on "greening", relying on the synergistic effects in ecological networks to improve the resource and environmental performance, the economic performance, the social performance and the business performance. In this dissertation, the primary theories, empirical research process and conclusions are as follows:With regard to studying the formation of resource-based enterprises' ecological networks, this article, by simplified treatment, makes use of mathematical models to discuss the state of competitive balance among "resources—upstream enterprises—downstream enterprises", thereby ascertaining the interactive relationship between the resource reserves and upstream&downstream enterprises based on resources, which determines the scope of resource-based enterprises' ecological networks and the density of the businesses in networks; Subsequently, this study applies the evolutionary game analysis into the forming process of resource-based enterprises'ecological networks. The model results indicate that in ecological networks, upstream and downstream enterprises based on resources usually adopt a cooperative strategy so as to more easily improve the resource and environmental performance of resource-based enterprises, while lateral enterprises of the same kind are inclined to competition in order to increase efficiency of the businesses and maintain their competitive advantages; Because the resource and environmental performance has to be taken into account in the course of the resource-based enterprises growth by green transition, this article, on the basis of the differential game model, analyzes approaches to cooperation of the resource-based upstream and downstream enterprises. The results manifest that full cooperation is impossible and infeasible, so they cooperate principally by consultations among enterprises. After the ecological networks of resource-based enterprises are formed, the capability of green transition has a functioning platform. This research inspired by the dynamic capability of enterprise and the network theory, undertakes the special subject study on the capability of the resource-based enterprises'green transition, confirms four dimensions of constituting the businesses'green transition capability, including the strategic insight, the network coordination, the management control and the green innovation, and develops the measurement scale containing24items, whose validity and reliability are tested by the use of exploratory factor analyses and confirmatory elements. This study adopts empirical analyses into the relationship between the green transition capability of resource-based enterprises and the growth performance of green transition. According to the field investigation results of typically resource-based enterprises, and by combing related literatures, the dimension constitution of explanatory variables, the intermediary variable (the performance of the network synergistic effect) and adjustive variable (the type of ecological networks) are identified, and a series of research hypotheses are proposed on this basis. The empirical consequences demonstrate that each dimension of resource-based enterprises'green transition capability has prominently positive influences on their growth performances of green transition, the network synergistic effect has a conspicuously intermediary role in between the growth performance of green transition and the three dimensions of abilities except green innovation, and the regulatory functions of both rigidly and flexibly ecological networks are obvious. The green transition in growth of resource-based enterprises must have the matching management mode. This study, through probing into the theoretical basis, characteristics, connotation and principles of resource-based enterprises'ecological management, refines and summarizes the theoretical framework of the businesses'ecological management, and further presents the ecological management mode of the resource-based industries'green transition, which provide the theoretical support and practical guidance for these industries to smoothly implement green transition. At last, this research verifies the theoretical elaboration and empirical results by case study. Studies show that the growth process of resource-based enterprises'green transition in the Qaidam region is identical with the theoretical and empirical conclusions in this article.
