China has made great progress in international trade in services since its reformation and opening. In 1984, the value of Chinese services export was 2.78 billion USD, which ranked 25th in the world, and the value of Chinese services import was 2.63 billion USD, which ranked 33rd. In 2004, the value of Chinese services export was 62. 4 billion USD, which rise to 9th in the world, and the value of Chinese services import was 72. 1 billion USD, which rise to 8th and became the top ten of the most world services exports and imports countries or zones. Though Chinese international trade in services developed rapidly in the past decades, it is not optimistic in a whole. From 1992 to 2004, in despite of 1994, Chinese trade deficit in international trade in services extended gradually, most of international services trade industries are weakly competitive. Chinese government has gradually realized the importance of developing international trade in services, which is the crucial field for countries or zones contend in international trade, and admits it to the important content of transiting our foreign trade growth model.This dissertation analyzes the Chinese foreign services trade dependency and contribution to national economy and etc., mainly in Input-Output Tables method and secondly in econometrics method, whose conclusions could provide useful suggestions for our further decision-making in international trade in services.To estimate the degree in which Chinese national economy depends, this dissertation firstly makes research in Chinese foreign services trade dependency after reviewing the relative theories. Because the calculating formula in common use exits limitation, this dissertation applies the new formula to evaluate Chinese foreign services trade dependency. The calculating results show that, in 1982, Chinese foreign services trade dependency is 0.94% which rises to 2.27% in 2003; the Chinese services export dependency is 0. 52% which climbs to 1. 04% in 2003; the Chinese services import dependency is 0.42% which increases to 1.23% in 2003. According to relative data, this dissertation further computes and analyzes Chinese foreign services trade dependency in styles. The Chinese foreign services trade dependency according new calculating formula generally is from one third to two fifth of the results according common use one.To estimate the function of international trade in services on Chinese gross national economy, this dissertation investigates the contribution degree to economic growth of Chinese services export and import, inducting the relative data from Chinese National Statistic Bureau, Chinese Custom and International Monetary Fund and expanding the 1997' s Input-Output Table to 1998-2002' s Tables by RAS method. The results indicate that, services import could generate more GDP than services export; whereas, the growth of services export could make more contribution to economic growth than services import growth.
