Theoretical And Empirical Study On Harmony Project Management

Engineering projects in China are developing toward upsizing and complication, existing engineering project method doesn't adapt to the development. There are many practice problems such as conflict of interest and inefficiency of project team calling for urgent solutions and innovations both in theoretical and methodological respects. Accordingly, this paper seeks to explore the Harmony Project Management in theoretical and empirical respect, in order to deepen the meaning of Engineering Project Management, enrich the management methods and explore new management modes.The research work of the paper: From the perspective of harmony, this paper conducts a systematic analysis of the elements and mechanism of the engineering project management system based on the complex system theory; according to the Project Management Maturity Model, this paper proposes the Harmony Project Management Model(HPMM) by absorbing the essence of HeXie management theory; HPMM indicates that project management system can be divided into 3 aspects——project core organization, project cooperation organization and project governance organization, each of which owns a unique harmony theme and realization of path that can be identified by Harmony degree; from the perspective of construction contractor, this paper investigates the Harmony Theme and its realization of path and conducts case studies to make further illustration of the application of the HPMM in the management practices. Moreover, this paper conducts a monographic study on the Harmony Coupling and harmony degree in the HPMM, on the grounds of the System Dynamics, this paper establishes a Harmony Project Management coupling SD model and analyzes its primary feedback loop, hence presenting an evaluation index system and methodology of evaluation of Harmony Degree of Project Management.The innovations of the paper: this paper indicates that project management system can be divided into 3 aspects, while the aim of HPMM is to identify realize the Harmony theme of each level; and, this paper proposes HPMM and presents a series of management principles and methods facing Engineering practice, thus enriching the theory and the practice of the Engineering Project Management; also this paper establishes a coupling causal relationship and SD model to explore the the coupling dynamic mechanism of the dynamic role and the optimizing role of the realization of path of Harmony theme; besides, with the adoption of Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation, this paper proposes an evaluation index system to conduct a quantitative analysis of the Harmony Project Management.To sum up, this paper makes a preliminary establishment of the concepts and principles of HPMM, offers a practical approach to explain, analyze and solve the problems in Engineering Project Management. Through the joint efforts of academia and practice, people will finally find an effective project management mode to solve the conflict among participants in engineering project and to give full play to the project organization synergy.
