The Tibetan ethnical group lives in Qinghai-Tibet plateau from ancient time to now, the plateau is cold, high altitude above sea-level and thin air. Because of hard environment conditions, nomadic life style, separate living method makes communicating and exchanging information is always a big problem inside Tibetans and between Tibetan and outside. From the time of introducing mobile telecommunication system in Gannan Tibet Autonomous Prefecture (GTAP), Tibetan traditional culture and mobile telecommunication technology adapted to each other. Mobile subscriber has developed rapidly in GTAP and mobile telecommunication technology has made traditional Tibetan culture change. The paper discussed how mobile telecommunication technology changes Tibetan culture and how Tibetans accept mobile phones, and trying to find out features and problems during the modernization of minority areas. The paper also concluded experience and inspiration of developing mobile telecommunication in GTAP, which is helpful to other minority areas.The paper consists of 8 chapters, the first chapter, introduction includes cause and meaning, status of this study, item definition in this study. Chapter 2 gives the communicating method and changes before New China, and the development of post and telecommunication in Gannan after New China. Chatper 3 described difficulties, strategies of mobile telecommunication operators when they began to build mobile telecommunication network in GTAP. This chapter also gave Tibetans' choice when they facing the mobile telecommunication. How the mobile telecommunication operator make Tibetans accept mobile devices is the focus of Chapter 4. This chapter described the application of mobile phone in Tibetans' life. Chapter 5 evaluated the influence of high mobile penetrative rate in political, economical and daily life of Tibetans. This chapter also told the expectation of Tibetans to mobile devices through field collecting data. Chapter 6 compared the development of mobile telecommunication between GTAP and Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture. The comparative aspects includes new idea inputting from mobile device, how mobile device affected religion secularization etc, how mobile device supplemented communication and transportation. What chapter 7 revealed to us is the adaptation of Tibetan culture when it met mobile devices, and how Tibetan styled mobile service contents in mobile terminals are produced. In another side, this chapter gave how Tibetan culture affected mobile telecommunication and promoted it to develop. The chapter discussed how modern technology and traditional culture adapt each other in the process of globalization and modernization. The last chapter, which is chapter 8, analyzed the difficulties and problems as mobile telecommunication entering GTAP, and also gave some available solutions, the chapter also concluded some experiences and inspiration, which is formed in GTAP, to other minority ethnical group areas.
