Toxoplasmosis is a worldwide widespread zoonotic protozoan disease; the species of its host are very extensive. Toxoplasmosis is widely spread in the people, livestock and wild animals. The infection ratio of human and animal is very high. The infection and the distribution of toxoplasmosis in our country is very extensive. In recent years, with the development of China’s pig industry, the existence of the disease is becoming more common, and gradually become one of the important diseases that do harm in pig.In this study, the scale and free-range farms in Zhejiang, Ningbo region were selected to investigate the epidemic situation, clinical symptoms, pathological changes in the autopsy, and the blood of44817pigs were collected to do the microscopic examination and PCR test, etc.. We investigated the porcine toxoplasmosis epidemic in this region, compared the therapeutic effect of5kinds of schemes on confirmed cases, and adopt comprehensive measures for decrease the incidence in the outbreak pig farms. The results indicated that (1) swine seroprevalence of Toxoplasma in Ningbo, Zhejiang region is28.40%in average. The infection rate of Toxoplasma was seasonal obviously, the high prevalence of swine toxoplasmosis occurred during March to September, the average infection rate reached40.80%, of which fattening pig reached up to43.03%, big pig was42.67%, lactation piglet was35.38%. According to the infection status of different stages of breeding swine, the infection rate of Toxoplasma of large pig was higher than fattening pig; the rate of fattening pig was higher than lactation piglet. The infection rate of swine toxoplasmosis during November-February is low, the average infection rate was15.11%, of which big pig was17.97%, fattening pig was15.47%, and lactation piglet was10.17%.(2) The infectious morbidity and mortality rate of swine toxoplasmosis were high in Ningbo. The average infection rate was17.83%, of which the fattening pigs reached up to26.79percent, the laction piglets, was as low as6.28%. The mortality rate of fattening pig was higher than large pig; the rate of large pig was higher than sow; the rate of sow was higher than lactation piglet.(3) The Infection rate and morbidity of Toxoplasma in scale farms are significantly lower than the free-range farms. The infection rate of free-range farms was41.82%, the morbidity was37.46%; the infection rate of scale farms was37.45%, the morbidity of23.91%.(4) The main pathological changes of this disease are bleeding skin, internal organs hemorrhage. The lymph nodes (mesenteric, stomach, jaws and groin) are swelling, brittle and the edge of the section is brick red or gray red color. It would appear pulmonary edema, liver with necrotic foci. And the histological changes appeared as interstitial pneumonia, necrotizing and/or hyperplastic lymph node inflammation, focal hepatic necrosis. Compared to other four kinds of treating programs, sulfamonomethoxine was the most effective treatment to control toxoplasmosis, the cure rate reached up to96.79%. During the season of this disease, adding sulfamonomethoxine and TMP in the feed of susceptible pigs last1week would make an effective prevention. In conclusion, there were a higher infection and morbidity rates of swine toxoplasmosis in Ningbo region. ELISA kits can be used as the primary method to check the diagnosis and epidemiological investigation. The best medicine to treat this disease was sulfa drugs, and the comprehensive measures should be taken to prevent and control the disease at the same time.
