“Bi-Xing”, an approach used in Bird and Flower Paintings creation, is theaccumulation of emotion in painter’s life, by metaphor and symbolization way to releaseand express in the language of art in birds and flower theme, it is the unified product of“object” and “heart”.“Bi-Xing” plays a crucial role in painters’ selection of subjects and theexpression of schema. Under the help of the combination of poetry and painting,“Bi-Xing”incisively and vividly conveys painters’ inner feelings and true ego.This thesis focuses on the research of the subject of “Bi-Xing”.“Bi-Xing”, anabstract aesthetic category, is connected with specific historical painters—AdherentArtists of the Ming Dynasty. By the research of painters, their works as well as society, theauthor wants to discuss the generation and means of display of “Bi-Xing”. Under specifichistorical situation, the aesthetic connotation of “Bi Xing” is full of vitality and sense of thetimes. Flowers, birds, fish and insects are integrated with artists’ pride and aloofness,resentment, as well as hidden bitterness into a unity filled with life’s value. On the onehand, by “Bi-Xing”, artists create a unique symbolic world, in which looking for spiritualhomes. On the other hand, artists are not isolated from the outside world, with the help of“Bi-Xing”, hoping that they can achieve self representation and compare subjects to virtueso that they can be recognized by the people in that specific times. The thesisconcentrates on the exploration of Bird and Flower Paintings created by some typicalAdherent Artists of the Ming Dynasty. Their styles of paintings are different due to suchfactors as different personalities, teachers, accumulation of arts and specific lives.However, nostalgia in their heart is their common emotional gist by using “Bi-Xing” in theirBird and Flower Paintings.
