The flower-bird painting of Ming Dynasty which has a profound impact to contemporary flower-bird painting plays a historical role in connecting the preceding and the following in the history of painting, especially for the development of literati painting. Due to the particular social background of the Ming Dynasty, political change, economic prosperity, and open-minded, painters began to learn from the past and also did innovative works, emotion expression was emphasized and they inclined expressing genuine feelings in the flower-bird painting. The flower-bird paintings were full of flavor, the image and spirit became the first, and the body belongs to the spirit at the same time.This paper contains four sections. The first part is an overview that describes the concepts and features of the pen and ink and humanism, and list several common painting skills. The second part is the Ming Dynasty humanity embodied in flower-bird painting creation, from the aspects of the philosophy and the artist’s feelings.The third part analyzes the influence of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoist to the flower-bird painting of Ming Dynasty, as well as the reflection of freehand brushwork in traditional Chinese flower-bird painting. The fourth part is a summary to the human feelings embodied in the flower-bird paintings of Ming Dynasty, combined with the creation of the contemporary flower-bird paintings humanity, we state the far-reaching impact of the flower-bird paintings humanity of Ming Dynasty on the contemporary flower-bird paintings.
