Conjunction study is a vulanerable spot of Chinese word-class study. The research monograph on conjunction is few. And the research achivemant is scatter on dictionary, general works and papers. So, it is important to make coordinate conjunction research which can figure out the developing condition of conjunction in medieval Chinese. And it can push on the Chinese conjunction research.The Chinese coordinate conjunction of medieval times includes four kinds: parataxis、undertake、select and prograsive relationship. This paper selects some representative literature in medieval times which include the Chinese Translation Buddhist Scripture、history book、novel and miscellaneous. It describes and interprete the source and evolution of Chinese coordinate conjunction of medieval times. The main content has three parts. Firstly, the paper describes the use of Chinese coordinate conjunction in medieval times. It includes the distribution in literature, the syntactic position, the number of connection items, language unit level of connection items, grammatical relations of connection items, semantic focus points, sentence patterns and category, context environment. Secondly, it studies on the source and evolution of Chinese coordinate conjunction in medieval times. It figure out the conjunction’s grammaticaliztion process and developing condition through hard and thorough research. Thirdly, it summarizes the characteristics of Chinese coordinate conjunction in medieval times. The paper sum up all the numbers of conjuncitions, the distribution^kinds and function characteristics. Lastly, it analyses the path of grammaticalization and lexicalization by grammaticalization and cognition theory, and explain the evolution mechanism.
