Sui Dynastyin followed up the past and ushered in the future. It ended the long-term split situation of Weijin and Northern and Southern Dynasties, re-unified China, had aprofound impact on the Tang Dynasty in various aspects. So far, about500tombs of Sui Dynasty have been found, and more than100of those are Annals tombs. These provide a better material for researching on tombs and social of Sui Dynasty.This article divides the area which found tombs of Sui Dynasty into three regions:Guanzhong area, Guandong area and Southern area.Each region has different characteristics and variation. The characteristics both inherited the tradition of the previous generation in this area and were impacted by regional cultural interaction after Sui Dynasty re-unified China. On this basis, a new tombs culture of the Sui Dynasty eventually formed.Funerary objects found in tombs of Sui Dynasty include pottery figurine, ceramic devices, porcelain, bronze, ironware, Jade, epitaph and so on. This article analyses distribution, shape and use of funerary objects, and pay special attention on the change from the Northern and Southern Dynasties to the Sui Dynasty.The tombs of Sui Dynasty have difference on grade and gender. The grade requirements about tombs are not very strict on the areas which far from political center-Daxing(Xi’an). From Anyang’tombs, we can see that common people’s tombs are different because of gender, but the status of men and women is still relatively equal;.This article also explores the relationship between political change and burial culture. Political change can affect the burial culture, but the burial culture is not outcome by a single factor. The tombs of Sui Dynasty is evolving under the influence of a variety of factors, finally show different characteristics with the previous generation.
