This paper takes the small tombs in the Chang'an area of Tang Dynasty as the research object,and uses archaeological methods to conduct a comparatively comprehensive and systematic study of small tombs in the Chang'an area of Tang Dynasty.Through the archaeological study of the tombs,it is believed that the small tombs in the Chang'an area of the Tang Dynasty were mainly the tombs with single holes in the caves and the tombs with vertical holes in the soil.Tombs of single-chamber tombs can be divided into three types: boots-shaped tombs,tomb-shaped tombs,and knife-shaped tombs according to different shapes;the number of boots-shaped tombs is the smallest and the epidemic time is short;the number of knife-shaped tombs is the largest,and there are straight-backed knife-shaped tombs and arcs.Back knife-shaped tomb and folded back knife-shaped tomb.Ceramics are the main burial products,and there are relatively few metalware and stone tools.The shape of the typical potteryware such as pottery jars,pots,clay pots,porcelain bowls,porcelain pots,and ceramic saliva was analyzed.The evolution sequence is relatively clear.Combining the evolution of the combination of tombs and funerary objects,the small tombs in the Chang'an area of the Tang Dynasty were divided into four periods: the early Tang Dynasty,the prosperous Tang Dynasty,the Middle Tang Dynasty,and the late Tang Dynasty.At the same time,combined with literature data,analyze the number,size and types of burial objects in the early to late Tang Dynasty and discuss the causes of the changes.Through the statistics of the texture,quantity and production process of the funerary metal ornaments,the living conditions of the civilian classes in the small tombs of the Tang Dynasty were analyzed.
