What kind of talents should universities cultivate, and how to cultivate these talents, has always been a real and urgent topic and a common concern for the entire higher education institutions and the whole society, which is also a significant theoretical and practical issue in educational research. With the advent of the knowledge society, universities, as the highlands of knowledge innovation and training base for talents, face a number of challenges:discipline development is from "highly differentiated" to "integration"; knowledge production is from "subject-center" to "problem-oriented"; talents cultivation is from "professional education" to "interdisciplinary education". Each university needs to face up the trend of discipline development, to clarify the logic of knowledge evolution, to analyze a variety of "inadaptability" in higher education, and try to think, study and explore an entire new integrative design of "science-education-reform", by cultivating compound innovative talents with interdisciplinary vision, critical thinking and cooperative spirits, therefore, to meet the challenges of the whole human development and global change. The transformation of higher education based on inter-discipline, has become the educational reflection and action guide for modern social change and development.This research is focused on the issue of "interdisciplinary" and "talents cultivation in universities", from a multidisciplinary perspective of epistemology, metascience, and pedagogy, and so on, to carry out a comprehensive study by means of multiple research methods, including theory-practice bidirectional construction, history, literature, case and empirical studies. In theory, conduct a systematic review on universities from the era of "ivory tower of knowledge" to "knowledge society", analyzing the historical transition of higher education function and its contemporary transformation; clarify the value logic of interdisciplinary integration for higher education reform; explore theoretical basis of interdisciplinary education and its connotations. In practice, emphatically analyze typical reform cases of domestic and abroad well-known universities, to promote effective strategies for compound innovative talents cultivation for modern world, in which social problems in real life has become increasingly complex, cross-discipline is growing, and discipline-based knowledge is more integrated, that is, to construct a mechanism of interdisciplinary talents cultivation which is based on "interdisciplinarity","problem-oriented" and "combination of teaching and research", so as to provide practice guidance for deepening undergraduate education reform in higher education of our country.This research puts forward:the progress of modern curriculum theories and learning science have laid foundations for the development of interdisciplinary education, problem-oriented "knowledge integration capability","problem solving ability" and "communicative and cooperative ability" are the core essences of interdisciplinary education; traditional universities are moving forward to "interdisciplinary universities" through the introduction of major and minor system, dual degree program, offering comprehensive experimental classes, general education and setting up interdisciplinary major, and so on. Interdiscipline-based curriculum construction and teaching reform is the landing slot for interdisciplinary talents cultivation model. Remold curriculum with "issue-logic", transform knowledge state from "isolation" to "integration", and convert "single discipline-based knowledge transfer" into "multidisciplinary knowledge construction", to achieve unity of the curriculum system as a whole, openness and flexibility. The philosophy of interdisciplinary teaching design is "teaching for ingenuity" and "learning for inquiry", not only facing the challenge of team teaching’s fusion, but also demonstrating "integrative" charm of collaborative culture. Integration of interdisciplinary research and education is a strong support for undergraduate teaching system reconstruction.The implement of reorganization,management innovation and systems optimization,is an effective guarantee of cultivating interdisciplinary talents.This research concludes that cross-border and integration is the inevitable trend of higher education reform and development in the21st century world. The "symbiosis" of interdisciplinary education and professional education is the foundation and backbone for academic community construction, and "collaborative integration" of interdisciplinary education and research depends on characteristics and limits in various fields.
