Study On The American University Interdisciplinary Talents Cultivation Mode

Entering into the21st century, with the speeding up of global economic integration and the rapid development of knowledge economy, the international competition is increasingly fierce, the competition of comprehensive national strength, to a great extent, has been converted into competition of knowledge and talents. General secretary Jiang Zemin in June2000national work conference on party school once said:"The current and future competition of the world, basically is the competition for talents".Historically, talent has always been the most precious wealth, talent can promote the generation of knowledge, which can promote the development of society, accelerate the historical process, speed up the steps of human progress. Because of talent’s important value, countries all around the world had a fierce competition for talent.However, as the change of world economy, the demand for talent has been changed. Single discipline development has can’t meet the new science and technology requirements of today’s society, interdisciplinary talents with multidisciplinary knowledge and ability are becoming the urgent need. So the importance of interdisciplinary is becoming more and more manifest, interdisciplinary education in the world is also gradually mature, the importance of the cultivation of interdisciplinary talents is more and more prominent. Published in2010<the national medium and long-term talent development plan outline (2010-2020)>has also offered to innovation talents cultivation mode, promote strategic adjustment of the talent structure, and attach importance to cultivating interdisciplinary talent.In response to the new demands on talents of the state and society in the new period, our university has also been making in interdisciplinary research and strive to cultivate interdisciplinary talents with comprehensive innovation ability. Although we have obtained certain achievements, but there are still many deficiencies. While the United States started earlier in the field of interdisciplinary talents cultivation, formed their own characteristics.In this paper, the integrated use of literature study method, history method, case study method, comparative research method, to summarize the interdisciplinary talents cultivation mode characteristics in American university, and take Carnegie Mellon university in the United States as a case analysis, concludes some of the valuable experience of the interdisciplinary talents cultivation in the United States university, in order to have certain enlightenment function to the interdisciplinary talents cultivation in our country.
