With the development of society, the mutual influence and interaction of science,technology, economy and culture have become increasingly complex, people are faced with more and more interdisciplinary problems, to solve these complex problems require a large number of complex talents with interdisciplinary knowledge structure or background. The first-class universities have been carrying burden of innovating knowledge, training talents, leading the social, how to cultivate students' ability to continue to acquire knowledge and application of knowledge in a broad background knowledge, then gain interdisciplinary thinking ability to analyze and solve problems,thus better serve the community, has become an important issue of the first-class universities personnel training under the fierce international competition.First-class universities of America have mature experience in interdisciplinary personnel training. This paper selects the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a case, which varies from an unknown college to the world first-class university, has cultivated a large number of outstanding talents, its unique interdisciplinary talents training mode is one of the important factors for brilliant achievement of Massachusetts Institute of Technology.This paper reviews the development process of cultivating talents in Massachusetts Institute of Technology. By using the theory of organizational ecology, the theory of multiple intelligence and the three helix model theory, This thesis analysis the interdisciplinary talents cultivation conditions. Through case analysis, probes into its main way to cultivate interdisciplinary talents, namely the creation of interdisciplinary courses, construction of the academic community, the implementation of an interdisciplinary research program. Induction on the interdisciplinary personnel training characteristics, the article points out which features mainly reflected in the limited selection, infinite integration discipline principle, wisdom and clever student's personality, compact rhythm of education advantage, cultural advantage of pure. The Institute's interdisciplinary education gives the student criticism, risks of qualities, its successful training experience given Chinese first-class universities cultivating interdisciplinary talent inspiration, it also has an important reference meaning for higher education reform in China.
