The tool-oriented scientific view transforms into the hegemony of the technicalrationalityμ. The traditional education of instrumentality emphasizes theory and neglects practice.Therefore, the vocational education deviates from its objective. The vocational educationpractice is puzzling because there is no academic consciousness. It leads to the interpretation ofthe theory-oriented general education and copies the practice logic of western vocationaleducation. Lacking its own characteristics, the Chinese vocational education has its difficulty ingoverning the practice. The difficult position and theoretical confusion of Chinese vocationaleducation come from the doubt of the academic world to the origin of vocational education. Thisresearch has its purpose of exploring the internal definition of modern vocational education--technicality. It discusses and explains the technicality of vocational education from theperspective of technical philosophy, and proves its technical essence, namely the rationality ofthe most basic category of vocational technology pedagogy.From the technology philosophy viewpoint, it integrates the methods as literature research,history-logic, comparison, etc. into the research. By studying the foundation of epistemology ofthe technical essence of vocational education, defining the nature of vocational education, andresearching the influence of technology on vocational education development and technicalconstruction of modern vocational education, it draws the following conclusions. First, thetechnology advancement pushes forward vocational education development. The vocationaleducation supports the inheritance and innovation of technology. Human·s technologizingsurvival is the foundation and the logical beginning of vocational education existence.Technology is the intrinsic logic of vocational education development. Second, technologydefines the essence of the vocational education, and expresses the practice logic of perceptualintuition of vocational education. Human·s technologizing survival stipulates the purposes ofvocational education to raise technical talents and professionals. Technologizing survival decidesthe essence of vocational education. The existence form of technical knowledge stipulates thechoice and organization for vocational education curriculum, and regulates teaching activities,methods and strategies for vocational education. The value of technology has its influence on the morals and ethics education of vocational education. Technology charm influences the humanityof vocational education. Third, the existence of technical essence, being the vocational educationsubstantive characteristics, depends on how to do with the relationships among the technical,professional and educational essence properly, and to balance tool-oriented rationality andvalue-oriented rationality. Fourth, the technical nature clearly reveals the type characteristic ofvocational education, makes widely known human·s right to survival of vocational education,only based on the fact of rich technology, truly understood the technology under the historicaland cultural context, integrated with other types of education, can the modern vocationaleducation be developed sustainably. Fifth, the basic attribute of technology and the interactionalrelations of vocational education are the basic theoretical issues of modern vocational pedagogy.The technical philosophy wisdom is the important element of vocational pedagogy theory. Theresearch model of technology is helpful to the construction of theoretical system forChinese-characteristics modern vocational education.
