Objective:"Population aging" lead to health problems of the elderly, which has become increasingly prominent. Research proves that resistance training is an effective method for improving muscle strength decline of the elderly. Therefore, this study took aged people as research objects, developed and tested resistance training fitness program based on resistance training theory to provide practical support for the elderly scientific fitness. Methods:Adopt to overcome their own weight + elastic bands circuit resistance training. Training cycle:12 weeks, training time:50 to 60 min, three times a week, each time training two groups, each group of 12 action, training intensity controlled in the scope of small to moderate intensity. the experimental group include 30 people and control group 19. Five athletic ability indicators, muscle strength, physical functional capacity, balance, flexibility and response time, had been tested. Three exercise physiology indicators (the national physique index, body composition and bone mineral density, and several blood indicators (blood glucose, lipids and C-reactive protein) had been tested to verify the resistance training fitness results.Results:1) Before and after the intervention in the experimental group, dynamic equilibrium level and the grip have no significant difference, supine leg raise and sit and reach have significant difference (P≤0.05), other athletic ability indicators are very significant differences (P ≤0.01). Before and after the intervention in the control group, dynamic equilibrium level has a very significant difference (P≤0.01), the Timed Up and Go test has a significant difference (P≤0.05).2) Before and after the intervention in the experimental group, exercise physiology indicators have no significant difference, before and after the intervention in the control group, percentage of body fat has highly significant difference (P≤0.01).3) Before and after the intervention in the experimental group, the HDL and LDL levels have significant differences (P≤0.05), before and after the intervention in the control group, the total cholesterol has significant difference (P≤0.05)Conclusion:The key points to note for the elderly, especially elderly people in rural areas taking part in resistance training are as follows: Training for small and medium strength training intensity. Integration muscular strength, muscular endurance, muscular power, balance, proprioception and other exercises. Reps to be simple and safe, practice tools to be affordable and easy to carry. Resistance training fitness program can improve athletic ability indicators and lipid levels of the elderly. Exercise physiology index and blood indicators of fitness effects remain to be seen.
