From the very beginning of 21st century, with the enforcement of "College Expansion Plan", music major education obtain giant development, the number of enrolled music majors in local college get doubled. In the process of fast development, dozens of problems such as lack of characteristic in education and similarity in talent cultivation occurred. Meanwhile, most local colleges gradually find the goal of serving the needs of its local and become stronger and stonger in this process, what could be done to help the music departments to attach itself to local college’s general goal and to foster talents for the local. Besides, national and cultural environment in rural area get threatened in the pacing urbanization and fastening economy development, the abundant folk music of our nation is endangered in the process of natural inheritance, to make the situation worse, since the education reform in primary and middle school, though folk music appreciation is added into the syllable, there is no way for effective folk music education in practice for the lack of qualified teachers in rural area.It follows therefore, music departments in local colleges should shoulder the responsibility of folk music culture inheritance for both the sake of self-development, local college’s general goal and the culture inheritance function of college.The basic idea of this thesis goes as follow:Sorting out problems confronted by local college’s music departments in folk music education by research into the current situation of folk music education in local colleges, putting forward teaching and course requirements for folk music to be part of the syllable and made necessary discussion on the guarantee for local college music department to conduct folk education.Based on the above basic idea, the research employ structural functionalism paradigm, adopt methods like literature review, field study and comparative research. The whole research is divided into the following parts.Part one is summary on the significance of folk music inheritance for college’s music major education. It is divided into 3 parts according to logic which covers folk music culture inheritance and music professionalism cultivation; status of folk music education in whole music education system and advantage possessed by local college in folk music culture inheritance.Detailed discussion is conducted in part two on the unsatisfactory performance of local college in folk music culture inheritance from the perspective of national education policy, college’s practice and teacher’s qualification. Deep analysis is made on the causes of the current situation from the angle of culture inferiority, course hegemony in college and technicalization of music department education.Comprehensive research on the integration of folk music course into music major education in local colleges is conducted in part three. The establishment of folk music course system requires music education ideological reform, balance of Chinese and western music culture should be taken into account in our practice so as to form the accordingly teaching requirement for folk music culture inheritance.Discussion on the guarantee for local college music department to conduct folk education, the thesis maintains that folk music culture teaching staff is the talent guarantee for the goal, infrastructure construction laid material foundation and policy support from central and local government is the policy guarantee for the project.
