Locomotive working diagram as the crucial element for arrenge transportation capacity and trains, is the basis of activities of railway transportation and production for locomotive department, and the important content of transportation plan.The common way of locomotive operation currently is use the certain numbers of single-type locomotives in certain railroad region,but there are some traction works need different types of locomotives to do cooperately.Therefore, the research on the formulation of multi-type locomotive working diagram has a certain theoretical and practical significance.For the multi-type locomotive scheduling problem,there are several different types coexist in one locomotive tractive district and a train is drawn by one or more than one types of them.When we deal with locomotive routing connection, the time and method etc.are not only things need to be considered, we also need to make a reasonable match among the locomotive according to the different route and specific goods, so the issue of multi-type locomotive diagram is much more complicated than the single-type’s.This paper will do a study on the problem of multi-type locomotive diagram based on the case. Collect and read relevant papers and documents, propose the meaning and details of this paper on the basis of former’s analyzing results which on locomotive working digram. Describe the characteristics of the problem of multiple-type locomotive working digram by combining with the case study, and summarize the main influential factors of locomotive cycling connecting process. This paper also point the actual influence on locomotive routing connection from factors such as train running charts, locomotive routings,line types, locomotive types and locomotive numbers. In the determination of boundary assumed conditions, this paper presents a three-dimensional assignment model which including of the arrival trains, the departure trains and the locomotive types for the turn-around station to optimizate the multi-tpype locomotive working.The model with locomotive operation cost as the optimization objective and the heuristic algorithm based on the exchanging locomotive routing connection is proposed to solve it and realize the optimization of the locomotive routing train groups. Finally locomotive type assignment and locomotive turn-around time were optimized integrally, and get the locomotive operation cost minimized. Computational experiments and data analysis were made by using actual operation data.Then compare the optimized calculation results of example with actual locomotive working digrams.By summaring the mainly research and conclusion of the paper, we can see that the optimization method of multiple-type locomotive working provides a theoretical basis for the corresponding railroad region, and it is beneficial to improve the efficiency of locomotive operation, save transportation cost, and make the railway transportation more adapt to the market requirement.
