A Semantic Study On Russian Perception Verbs

Perception has played an important role in the process of human being to know theworld. As the blooming development of cognitive science, perception has been theresearch focus. Human perception behavior has been studied in philosophy, physiology,psychology, linguistics from different levels. With perception vocabulary such as vision,audition, olfaction, gustation, tactus as analysis objects, the research on perception inthe linguistic horizon discloses human’s cognitive style to perceive scene by analyzingthese words’ semantic and grammatical features. As the core parts of perceptionvocabulary, Perception verb is the most important part in linguistic study with theirsyntactic structure interacting the whole perceived events.Russian perception verbs are numerous with rich semantics and various syntactics.Refereeing to the latest academic ideas and views in morphemics、lexicology、semanticsand cognitive linguistics at home and abroad, this paper presents semantic features ofsubject categories of Russian perception verbs on the layers of word-formation,vocabulary and syntax in a way of integrating point and sphere, combining qualitativeanalysis and quantitative analysis and considering both static and dynamic aspects oflinguistic by giving priority to typical perception verbs analysis which is complementedby atypical perception verbs. Not only limiting to objective and comprehensivedescription, the research also pays more attention to make reasonable explanation tokinds of language phenomenon. Detailed analysis is as follows:1）Focus on the categories relations of perception verbs and disclose the properlevel features, prototype features and polymerization of this system.2） Disclose theword formation rule of perception words by analyzing word-family of typicalperception verbs formation. Excavate semantic mechanism of Russian perception verbs formation with conceptual integration theory.3） Realize the muti-interpretation ofperception verbs derived mechanism by combining sememe analysis theory, meaningparameters theory and cognitive semantics theory, from microcosmic semantic structureto sememe combination, then to analyze deep cognition step by step.4）Analysis theprojection of perception verbs from semantic to syntax under the frame of valencytheory and tap their potential rules relying on quantitative analysis of perception verbsin Russian corpus. Interpret iconicity of syntactic structure of different perception verbswith Figure-Ground theory.Studying comprehensively perception verbs with varieties of theories and methodsis a process of revealing semantic characteristics of perception verbs, applying、verifying and complementing relevant theory effectively. Studying findings hasimportant reference value to the special research of other subclass verbs.
