Since human beings came into existence, the issue of interests has always been aproblem throughout human social life. In some sense, the issue of interests is the keyto many ideological problems. Nowadays, the construction of a harmonious society inour country is being boosted in the process of the further development of marketeconomy, the deepening of reform and opening up as well as in the transformation ofsocial structure. In the process emerged various interests situations, multifariousinterests consciousness, complicated interests relations and interlaced interestscontradictions, all of which have evoked our thoughts and inquiries about the interestsproblem of the times. The issue of interests will inevitably enter the field ofideological and political education which is an education practice that aims at guiding,standardizing and adjusting people’s thoughts and behavior. This inevitability is therequirement of our times for ideological and political education as well as therequirement for the scientific development of the discipline of the ideological andpolitical education.On the basis of Marxist standpoint and humanism and with the comprehensiveknowledge of anthropology, pedagogy, psychology, sociology, economics and politics,the author employs the methods of combining theory with reality, historicinvestigation with logic analysis and comparative research method, attempts to searchfor the development and innovation of ideological and political education with theissue of people’s interests as the entry point and the interrelation of people’s interestswith the ideological and political education as the main line.Established in the studyof the interrelation of people’s interests with ideological and political education, thepaper introduces a new subject study brought by the combination of people’sinterests with ideological and political education, and further from this perspectivemakes more specific discussion on the expansion of contents, the construction ofmethodological principles and the innovation of implementation methods of modern ideological and political education, thus forming the theoretical prototype of theinnovation and development of ideological and political education.The main contents and ideas are as followsFirst, people’s interests is interpreted as the basis of ideological and politicaleducation from the philosophical level, which is the first step in interconnectingpeople’s interests with ideological and political education. On the basis of theanalysis of the philosophical implications, the basic characteristics, the constitutionsystems and the historical role of the Marxist interests, the author explores the sourceof ideological and political education from the angle of combining history with logicas well as the angle of combining fact with inevitability. The paper illuminates thatthe issue of people’s interests is the source of ideological and political education aswell as the internal drive in its development process, and further analyzes theinterests’ logical starting points, judging standards and value orientation of the valueof ideological and political education.Second, the function of ideological and political education is examined from theperspectives of the system theory and of “the structure and the function”. This is theexploration of the inner correlation of people’s interests with ideological and politicaleducation from the counteractive perspective. Relying on the judgment that theinterests function of ideological and political education is the foundation of otherfunctions, the paper presents the manifestation of interests function, the advantage ofthe unique role and the exertion of interests function of ideological and politicaleducation from the perspective of stakeholders as well as from the viewpoint of therelationship between the internal and external structure systems of interests.Third, the paper discusses the new study subject faced by the modern ideologicaland political education under the background of people’s diversified interests. Takinginto consideration the background of diversified interests, the paper explores the newopportunities and challenges that interests diversification provides to ideological andpolitical education in the new era through a comparative study on ideological andpolitical education between the traditional and the modern. Fourth, the paper examines the contents expansion of the modern ideological andpolitical education influenced by the combination of people’s interest with ideologicaland political education.1. According to the new changes in interest subjects, it issuggested that the new concept of interests focused on the stakeholders is theeducation of the interests concept for the dialectical unification of “individual interests,group interests and class interests.”2. In accordance with the variation in the interestscontents and hierarchical structures, it is argued that the new concept of interestsfocused on the interests contents rests with the education of the interests concept forthe dialectical unification of implementing "economic, political, cultural, social, andecological interests.3.Taking into account the differences in the conditions and theopportunities for achieving interest, it is proposed that the new concept of interestsfocused on the interests realization level lies in the education of the interests conceptfor the dialectical unification of implementing “immediate interests and long-terminterests”.Fifth, the paper analyzes the innovation in the methodology principle of modernideological and political education brought by the combination of people’s interestwith ideological and political education.1. The methodological principle of combiningmaterial encouragement with spiritual encouragement is discussed. The requirementof progressing with the times is put forward according to the new development ofmaterial interests and spiritual interests based on the summarization of the historicalexperience of the methodological principle.2. The paper illustrates the necessity of theprinciple of combining reality and transcendence as well as the tension and thedevelopment requirements of handling the correlation of “realistic interests” with“transcending interests”3. The paper, through a comparative study, reveals thelimitations of the single infusion method used by the traditional ideological andpolitical education in the education of the interest concept and raises the newrequirements of the methodological principles for the education of the interestsconcept of combining “internalization and infusion” in the modern interests situation.Sixth, the paper explores the approaches to implementing and optimizing theinterests of people under the background of combining people’s interests with the modern ideological and political education.1. From the viewpoint of stakeholders, therational cultivations of individual interests and of inter-subjective interests serve as animportant way of optimizing the ideological and political education interests.2. Fromthe perspective of the dynamic process, the accommodation in the interests drivingprocess lies in the realization of the unblocked interests expression and the interestssharing.3. From the angle of the optimization of interests environment, Realization ofthe ideological and political interests education rests with the safeguard of the fieldof economic civilization of interests validity, spiritual civilization of interests justice,social civilization of interests management and ecological civilization of sustainableinterests development.
