| Under the background of rapid urbanization, the urban fringes of megacities have been experiencing the drastic change of the space environment, together with the society-space conflict. Man-land relationship presents the new features under the special historical background. The ""fringe" is a concept with dynamic and relativity. With the acceleration of the urbanization pace of the megacities, the past urban fringe has been internally integrated into the urban core of the megacity. Different from the long-term evolutionary process of the megacity core, the rapidity and efficiency of the space production present the diversified material space form, hide the diversified dynamic mechanism and reappear the daily living space with space-time dissimilation. Under the theoretical background of "space production" and based on the theoretical perspective of ternary dialectical unity of history-spatiality-sociability, this paper defines this type of urban fringe with the concept of "newly urbanized area" and explores the production characteristics, mechanism and effect of the space of the newly urbanized area under the background of rapid urbanization. It clarifies the road which is taken by the megacity urbanization, the achievement gained and the problems occurred through the perspective of newly urbanized area. Subjectively and objectively, reexamining and reappraising the production efficiency and the benefit of the megacity space is helpful to understand the profound transformation of the urbanization development as well as provide the theoretical basis and practical enlightenment for the new urbanization. There are eight chaptersThe first chapter is introduction. The key points are to introduce research background, research significance and research ideas in this dissertation. Based on practical problems, after collecting and organizing relevant literatures, the dissertation points out that the theory of production of space provide a new theoretical menu to analyze spatial-social problems highlighted in the urban fringe area under the rapid urbanization. As a result, the research framwork is put forward under the internal unity of conceptual triad and the general geographic thinking, that is the pattern, process, mechanism and effect. The second chapter is the theoretical cognition of production of urban space. Based on neo-marxism urban theory, from three aspects of development environment, mechanism and effect, characteristics of production differences in space between Chinese and western urbans are summarized. Based on historical background, spatial signatures and driving forces, the concept of newly-developing district is preliminary defined. The third chapter is for the analysis of changes of external environment in Hongshan district, from three aspects of land use and landscape pattern and spatial structure. Results show that since 2000, dramatic changes have taken place in hongshan district on territory, with area governed by Hongshan district government shrinked inwords downtown area, the trait of non-agricultural trend, degree of landscape fragmentation increased, internal organization quickly updated, external connectivity enhanced, which eventually form three different types of spatial extension. The fourth chapter is about subjects participated in production of Hongshan district. This part takes government, enterprises and resident as object of study, and the changes of which will be taken from the aspects of identity, form and path. Results show that the demand of Wuhan city’s fast urbanization triggered spatial reorganization in Hongshan district. With the change of urban attributes, the structure of government power change from vertical to horizontal direction, residents from the villagers to citizens. The form of enterprise organization of township enterprises has changed after market economy reform. The way of the (re) production and distribution has changed the path between the enterprise and the villagers. Eventually the main types of networks have formed, they are power subjects and the production of material space, market subjects and the organization of functional space, social subjects and the construction of social space. The fifth chapter is to explore the driving forces of the production of Hongshan district.Based on the relationship between the subject and spatial environment, the analytical framework is constructed from the viewpoints of the government and their power space, the enterprise and their capital space, and the residents and their social space. This paper argues that material space is the result of the common production under the multi-agent interaction. The results show that vertical structure and horizontal structure between main subjects changed according to different space scale, namely, the larger the scale is, the less the subjects involved in the production of space are with simple relationship. While the smaller scale is, the more the subjects involved in the production of space, with more complex relationship. The sixth chapter is for the effect of production of Hongshan district. From the perspectives of production, living, ecological spaces, the effect of production of Hongshan district is valued. Results show that since 2000, under the combined action between self-organization and other organizaiton, the functional factors in production and living spaces gather towards the concentrated area, while the factors in ecological space gradually reduce. Capital transfer to the third industry, however, labor productivity is still low, and a large number of rural labor force is in need to transfer. Life functions gradually mature, the living environment is improved, and the living quality of residents general is enhanced. The value of ecological space transfer from production to supply, with the transformation from economic value to the social value, such as the goal to serve the residents for leisure. The seventh chapter is to summarize the patterns of the production of Hongshan district. From dialectic relationship between society construct space, and space shape society, the problems of production of space is revealed, the main modes of production of space is refined, and the development measure is put forward. Results show that under the bidirectional interaction between society and space, the production of space with rapidity and efficiency represents that uneven development, the difference in space perception for living space and the spatial function lagged. In this process, in between the main body role change for reference and space scales, shows three main social space mode of production, namely, vertical, horizontal and network production mode of social space. The eighth chapter is conclusion. On the basis of summarizing the main conclusions, discussion about the theory on production of space and the meaning of development of newly-developing distric over Wuhan city is furthured, the existing problems and thinking in the future study are summarized. Finally, the dissertation is trying to achieve something in the following three aspects: ①from the view of newly-developing city space, the production efficiency of Wuhan city is reviewed and evaluated from the subjective and objective aspects;(2) making a try to integrate logical framework of spatial practice/percepion of space, representation of space/conceived space, and space of representation/living space with the framwork of pattern, process, mechanism and effect in geography, which is a study for localization of theory and internalization in geography;(3) From the perspectives of production, living, ecological spaces, the basic framwork to analyze that three spaces in urban contex is constructed. |
