Augmented Reality(AR) technology can significantly improve the teaching effects by superimposing virtual teaching materials on real teaching scenes, which has drawn widely attention in educational field. Meanwhile various AR systems for education have also been continuously developed and realized by all kinds of new AR technologies. However, teaching aids system based on AR usually disadvantages in the following aspects, insufficient innovation while its system functions are easily disconnected with education teaching demands; the unreasonable classification of human-computer interactive mode, the rendering methods of virtual-real fusion teaching scene are inadaptable to its promotion and popularization in education field while the whole system structure is not applicable to different teaching types; the lack of the evaluation on educational applicability of the AR teaching aids system, besides the teaching scene used in the evaluation process is single. This study mainly works on three aspects, the innovation of AR system on educational applications, system design and the evaluation on educational applicability. The main results are:(1)An innovative research method on AR educational applications guided by the educational technology innovation principle is proposed. In order to improve the supporting role of AR on education and teaching, an innovation research method on AR educational applications is proposed which includes the design of application scheme, pilot study, evaluation on experimental results and the analysis on evaluation results. Simultaneously, a combining method of the related education theory and the AR technology is proposed, including the combination of AR technology with the theory on learning motivation and the authentic learning. Moreover, the key technology of AR on the designing, developing and promoting of teaching aids system is presented.(2) The designing method of AR teaching aid system is proposed which is based on human-computer interactive mode integrating with different teaching scenes. This study puts forward two AR system interactive modes for education, operating modes and presenting modes, respectively. And the application methods of these two modes are also presented. A series of rending methods of virtual-real fusion teaching scene are raised, including the constructing method of virtual teacher and multi-level teaching scenario, the rending method of virtual-real fusion teaching scene and its constructing method on motion effects. Furthermore, in view of the characters and demands of three learning type and the proposed constructing and rending methods, we present the designing method of AR system based on teaching scene and system resource.(3) An evaluation method on educational applicability of teaching aids based on AR is proposed. This method is based on deductive statistics. In this study, we first present the analysis method of experimental data, analyze the teaching demands of the classroom learning, open learning and mobile learning in detail, and develop different education application patterns. Then we complete the design of system application scheme, procedure of pilot study, the evaluation of pilot study and the analysis of experimental data. Through different pilot studies, it demonstrates that the proposed innovative research method, design method of AR system and the evaluation method can satisfy the teaching demands for multiple learning types, can significantly improve the learning motivation, the authentic feeling and the learning effects of students.
