An Empirical Study On The Professional Values And Job Performance Of College Counselors

With the dual identity of teachers and cadres,college counselors are an important part of faculty and management team.Counselors have increasingly shown its important status and indispensable role in the ideological education and management work of students.The improvement of talent training's quality needs counselors under the background of the popularization of higher education.The concordance of college students' socialist core values needs counselors under the multicultural background.College students1 ideological and political education innovation needs counselors under the background of~"popular entrepreneurship,innovation".The ideological management of universities also needs counselors under the background of network new media.Under the background of improving the national soft power,professional values are important variables that influence the job performance of counselors.Based on the existing research results,this paper discusses the relationship between professional values and job performance of counselors through theoretical analysis and empirical research.The role of counselors can be brought into full play which is conductive to the cultivation of talents.This study chooses college counselors as the research object on the basis of Marx's theory on human full development,Marxist theory of values,the ideological and political education environmentalism,Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory and career choice,customer satisfaction and other related theory.This paper uses a lot of research methods such as literature research,survey research,value analysis,cross study and statistical etc.This paper develops four measurement scales:college counselors' professional values,counselors'job satisfaction.counselors' work performance and students' satisfaction of counselors which show good reliability and validity.Then,a total of 1000 counselors from 57 colleges or universities were selected and 30000 students were included into this study in a manner of 30 per counselor.In order to study the influence of college counselors' professional values on job performance,this paper constructs three research models:the direct effect model of"Counselor's Professional Values-Job Performance",the extension model of "Counselor's Professional Values-Job Satisfaction-Job Performance",the moderator model of"Professional Values of Counselors-Students' Satisfaction-Job Performance",At the same time,these three models are tested empirically.The results show that the professional values of college counselors have a positive impact on job performance;the professional values of college counselors' have positive impact on job satisfaction;the job satisfaction of college counselors has a positive impact on job performance;students' satisfaction as a moderator variable has a significant impact on job performance.It also tested the mediator role and the adjustment function of the job satisfaction and the satisfaction of the counselors to the professional values and job performance.Combirning the results and personal work experience,this study puts forward specific measures to improve the professional value and job performance of counselors from national,university and individual three aspects.What highlighted is that the professional value of counselors can be effectively strengthened with improving job performance by the integration of six strategies,including cultural management,standard construction,quality control,fine development,knowledge acquisition and personalized plan.Furtheraiore,these strategies can also provide theoretical basis for the management and development of counselor teams.
