The career development of the cultural course teachers has play a key role in the reform and innovation of the higher vocational education in China.Doing research into their living conditions and the needs of developing,relates to the basic proposition which means the effectiveness of the policy of the colleges teachers? development in our country.The teachers of higher vocational colleges belong to the teachers in colleges and universities,but they have different characteristics from the college and the university teachers.It is difficult to motivate the teachers in higher vocational colleges,especially the cultural course teachers,if regulating them with the management means.This study follows the Grounded theory,a qualitative research path,to design and research,selecting a number of teachers in vocational colleges in China as the survey objects,useing the in-depth interviews and field observation methods to know their real life and then obtain a large number of first-hand informations.Finally,through the induction which based on the “deep description” to present the daily work,life picture and complex inner world of the cultural course teachers in higher vocational colleges comprehensively.Based on Bourdieu?s field theory,from the perspective of “field”,“capital” and “habitus”,the research regards the higher vocational colleges as a specific field,which is an integration of physical space and significance space,in which the position of the cultural course teachers hold,and the competition of the “capital” they participated,the rules of the game they followed,the “habitus” they generated,the capital they had have been shown.At the same time,the position,the habit and the capital also have an influence on the behavior strategy and a restriction on the career life of the culture teachers.Through the analysis of the formation and reproduction of the work field of the cultural course teachers in the higher vocational colleges,the research has revealed the growth and the development of them.The research shows that:the higher vocational colleges in China is not a pure academic community to purse the truth,but a hierarchical bureaucratized field.In which,teachers are marginalized by the visible or invisible forces and isolated or scattered out of the mainstream culture.What?s more,they had encountered a series of realistic shocks and confusion in the matter of economic income,teaching,scientific researches,managements and psychologies.The factors what determine their vocational development should not be their attitudes and standpoints what are shaped by their positions in the higher vocational school arenas,but the management system in schools that become the important obstacles for the teachers to obtain the cultural capital,the academic power and the reasonable economic capital.In addition,it is the value orientation of the utilitarianism and the instrumentalization in school management that strengthen and maintain the unfair career survival situation of the cultural teachers,and the realistic situation of the cultural course teachers has eliminated the initiation of their professional development,which has led to the obstacles of their professional role identity.
