IUR (Industry-University-Research) Cooperation refers to the cooperation among Industry, University, and Research. IUR Cooperation can be an effective tool to strengthen and accelerate technology innovation and development. The essential feature of the IUR Cooperation is the mutual influence and promotion engaging across economy, education, and technology.With playing a key role in cultivating high-level talents and the development of high technology, higher education institutes is the major participant of IUR Cooperation and the innovation driven development strategy.Characteristic-oriented universities have superiority in talents cultivation, scientific research and technology transfer. The fruitful results of characteristic-oriented university's IUR Cooperation play an important role in promoting the development of the industrial economy.The development of Industrial Cluster provides more space to characteristic-oriented university's IUR Cooperation. Meanwhile, the innovation behavior diffusion of IUR Cooperation can enhance the innovative ability of Industrial Cluster.Above all, the contribution of the research on characteristic-oriented University's IUR Cooperation can be presented as:(1) The concept, historical development, and current situation of characteristic-oriented universities are clarified, described, and concluded.(2) The findings of IUR Cooperation and industrial cluster are induced and concluded, and the relationship between characteristic-oriented universities' IUR Cooperation and industrial cluster is analyzed, which further leads to a novel IUR Cooperation mechanism frame (Selection—Control—Distribution—Diffusion).(3) The selection mechanism in IUR Cooperation, control mechanism in opportunistic behavior in cooperation, interest distribution mechanism and the technology diffusion mechanism in industrial cluster are analyzed by game theory, e3 value model, and the cellular automation model, respectively.(4) Some strategy advices are proposed to the construction of characteristic-oriented universities' IUR Cooperation mechanism.The thesis includes eight chapters as follows:Chapter 1 describes the background and motivation of the research,clarifies the concept of characteristic-oriented universities, and introduces the study ideas, frame, main content, research methods, and main innovations.Chapter 2 elaborates the historic reformation and current situation of the development of characteristic-oriented universities, and IUR Cooperation pattern. It also analyzes the foreign IUR Cooperation pattern.Chapter 3 includes the concept of industrial cluster and current progress of industrial cluster in the world, analyzes the relationship between characteristic-oriented universities and industrial cluster, and then proposes the research frame of characteristic-oriented universities'IUR Cooperation mechanism based on industrial cluster.Chapter 4 studies the selection mechanism, and employs game theory to analyze whether characteristic-oriented universities participate in IUR Cooperation and the choice of cooperation pattern as well as the cooperation partners' selection.Chapter 5 focuses on opportunistic behavior and its control mechanism. It uses e3 value and e3 control models to build the models and studies IUR Cooperation control mechanism. The models are created for both before and after cooperative establishment, based on technology transaction pattern and business cooperation pattern.Chapter 6 discusses the interest distribution mechanism of the cooperation and its typical model. The principal-agent model is employed to develop the game analysis of technical research stage and commercial stage, respectively. It furthers discusses the selection of interest distribution patterns for characteristic-oriented universities in different stages.Chapter 7 concentrates on the study of the diffusion mechanism of technology innovation in industrial cluster. It describes the technology innovation diffusion and its impact on industrial cluster. It also utilizes the cellular automation model to simulate the technology innovation diffusion in industrial cluster, and discuss the IUR Cooperation's influence on diffusion, which encourages to use IUR Cooperation innovation diffusion in industrial cluster.Chapter 8 concludes strategies for the construction of characteristic-oriented universities' IUR Cooperation mechanism:optimize the selection of cooperation; guard against opportunisticbehavior; optimize the distribution method; promote cluster innovation ability; improve multi service support system; make full use of the strength of University League.Chapter 9 makes a summary of the main research results, points out the shortcomings of present study and proposes some suggestions for further study in the field.The main innovations in this thesis are listed as follows:1. This thesis proposes the research frame of the IUR Cooperation mechanism from selection, control, distribution, and diffusion mechanisms. It sorts out and concludes the historical development and current situation of characteristic-oriented universities systematically.2. This thesis studies the development strategies of IUR Cooperation from the view of characteristic-oriented universities, which is different from the research of the past. It also clarifies and analyzes the concept of characteristic-oriented universities.3. It innovatively uses a visualized model based on value theory, and designs the control mechanism correspondingly. It also enriches the research methods of IUR Cooperation.by simulating the diffusion process of the technology creative behavior of characteristic-oriented universities'IUR Cooperation in industrial cluster. In addition, the selection mechanism of characteristic-oriented universities' IUR Cooperation is studied by use of the Nash Bargaining Model, and the interest distribution mechanism of characteristic-oriented universities' IUR Cooperation is studied by use of the principal-agent model.
