As the most important stakeholder in university governance,students should be the main body of University Governance.All the time,students’ participation has been an important part of university governance in Western countries.In contrast,the issue of student participation in university governance has not been given due attention in China.Although the academic community has a certain call,but in fact the process of management in the university is very difficult.In recent years,the Ministry of Education wants to promote the establishment of modern university management system by urging universities to formulate the University Charter.However,due to the current widespread lack of understanding of the concept of university governance and the measures taken are not in place,the vast majority of universities draw up the constitution formally,the university governance mechanism has not yet been fully established and the students’ participation in university governance is only superficial and formal.This also caused an objective phenomenon of "government advocates,university prevarication" to some degree.Some domestic colleges and universities are also aware of such problems and are trying to carry out the students’ participation in University Governance.But these practices are still in the exploratory stage,the ways and channels of participation are relatively limited,the awareness and ability to participate is not in place and then the actual effect of students’ participation in governance is not very satisfactory.The reasons are various,including macro,meso and micro factors.But the root cause lies in the lack of understanding of the dominant position of College students.At the same time,the students’ awareness and ability to participate in university governance are not in place,and the key point is that there is not a set of mature mechanism of students’ participation in university governance.This research takes the stakeholder theory as the cornerstone of the university governance theory,and takes the analysis of the status of the students in the university governance as the breakthrough point.On the one hand,the author demonstrates the students’ status as the main body of university governance through the theoretical deduction.On the other hand,through the field experiment method,the main role of the students in the university governance is verified by experiments.The conclusion is that the student is the main body of university governance and should participate in university governance.Then,from the two aspects of "interference" and "pushing hands",the paper systematically analyzes the macro,meso and micro positive and negative influence factors of student participation in university governance.Finally,based on the idea of seeking truth from facts and proceeding in an orderly way,this paper attempts to construct a complete set of mechanisms for the participation of university students in university governance by using the method of system analysis,mainly including a series of design of student participation in university governance,such as the participation principle,the scope of participation,the participation channel,the participation way,the participation motivation,the participation safeguard and so on.This paper not only points out the clear direction and feasible way for the real function of the university students’ main role in university governance,but also lays a foundation for the establishment of the governance mechanism of the multi subject university in china.This study is divided into five parts besides introduction and conclusion.In the first chapter,based on the basic theory of university governance,analyzing the relationship between government and universities,principals and professors in university governance from the perspective of university autonomy and university governance.It is pointed out that the autonomy and the co-governance are not contradictory,but only the autonomy and the co-governance is not a complete idea of university governance.At the same time,through the analysis and application of stakeholder theory,and points out that the main body of university governance should be a stakeholder group which is closely related to the mission of the University.The university governance needs the participation of the stakeholders,and expounds the theory and practice of the university governance from the perspectives of the students,the government,the teachers and the social forces.Later,it is concluded that student participation is the common requirement of autonomy and co-governance.In the second chapter,from the angle of political science,economics,sociology,management and education,point out that students should be in the dominant position of university governance,and then point out the necessity of the students’ participation in university governance,and emphasizes that students should change from the traditional management to the management of the future and from being treated" to co-governance.At the same time,this paper analyzes the current situation and problems of students’ participation in university governance from the current predicament of university governance and the needs of national education system reform,and expounds the reasons for the lack of the dominant position of the students in the University Governance.This left a foreshadowing for the following research.In the third chapter,we are making a demonstration of the status of students’ participation in university governance by the method of field experiment.This experiment selects the undergraduate students majoring in Business Administration in a university of Chongqing as the experimental object.Through the control of the experimental environment,the selection of the experimental object,the design of experimental investigation and other aspects of the experiment,to ensure that the experimental data is true and reliable,and the experimental results are reasonable and reliable.Through the construction of the experimental evaluation model and the analysis of the experimental results,it is proved that the students should be in the dominant position in the university governance,and also get some enlightenment on the mechanism design of the student participation in university governance.The fourth chapter,from the aspects of macro factors,meso factors and micro factors,we analyzing these factors affecting students’ participation in university governance.That included global trends and national strategy,orientation of university personnel training,and subjective cognition and individual differences.These factors include not only the power of the students to participate in the governance of the University,but also the interference factors of the students’ participation in university governance.The correct understanding of these factors will play a fundamental role in the design of the mechanism of student participation in university governance,and also play a fundamental role in promoting students’ participation in university governance.In the fifth chapter,from the point of view of pragmatism and gradualism,it emphasizes that the students’ participation should not only stay at the theoretical level,but also should be put into action.Based on this,the paper puts forward the mechanism design of student participation in university governance,including the participation principle,the participation scope,the participation channel,the participation way,the participation motivation and the participation safeguard.These six components are indispensable,mutual support and have a strong internal operation mechanism.It provides conditions support,power driven and environmental protection for the Mechanism operation,and can promote the students’ participation in University governance.
