Managerialism occupies an important position in the history of Western management thought and has a profound influence on the development of Western management theory and practice.From the perspective of management philosophy,this paper conducts normative research on managerialism.Through the reflection of managerialism,the paper explores the essential connotation,content dimension,value and limitation of managerialism,so as to reveal the basic trend of modern management development.Managerialism is a management thought formed on the basis of specific beliefs and theoretical propositions in the western management field.In terms of belief,managerialism emphasizes management paramountcy,scientific spirit,instrumental reason and efficiency center;in the development of theory,it has experienced two stages:classical managerialism and Neo-managerialism.In the way of thinking,managerialism presents the characteristics of instrumental rational thinking mode,and displays scientific thinking,universal thinking and linear thinking.In terms of methodology,managerialism emphasizes standardized methods,quantitative analysis methods and performance management methods with distinctive technical orientation.In the value orientation,managerialism takes the "rational economic man" as the hypothesis of human nature,the market as the way of value realization,and the efficiency center as the value goal,which has the priority of economic value.On the theoretical level,managerialism promotes the scientification of management theory,the rationalization of management thinking and the specialization of management field.In practice,managerialism promotes the normalization of management behavior,the construction of institutionalized management mode and the promotion of management efficiency.At the same time,in the field of social public governance,managerialism produced the social value of the organization of social life,the stratification of public management,the social governance management and the market-oriented reform of public services.In terms of the limitations of managerialism,it shows the excessive praise of instrumental reason,the ethical defect of technicism and the mistaken idea of economic orientation.Therefore,the modern western theory criticizes the managerialism of management highest,scientism,technology,efficiency center and so on.It shows the development of management trending service,humanity,ethics and public value.For China,it should be based on Chinese tradition and reality,and make rational sublation of managerialism.Reflection on managerialism is the key to understanding the essence of managerialism.It helps to form an objective "factual" analysis t and a rational "value" judgment of managemen,and then provides the corresponding ideological enlightenment for the modern management theory research and the practice development.
