This research work analyzes clear difference between Chinese and Korean grammatical systems.Chinese belongs to isolated language and Korean belongs to agglutinative language.Unlike Chinese grammatical system Korean does not have preposition word terms and uses postposition to express grammatical relationships and meanings.Chinese preposition “zai” and corresponding postposition word in Korean is frequently used.In this research work Chinese preposition “zai” and corresponding Korean postposition have been chosen as research subjects.Similarities and differences are found by analyzing and comparing the subjects in meaning and grammatical functions.Also,this study analyzes the mistakes Korean students make when using the preposition “zai”,then educational measures are proposed by analyzing Korean students that have difficulties learning preposition “zai” in various points of reference.Furthermore,this paper introduces how to educate and train translation by discovering difficulties during the translation process.The research work is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction.In this part,the purpose of the study and research significance is explained and briefly summarizes the current status of research on preposition for Chinese language and Korean postposition terms.Also,source of the research as well as the research method,content,and scope of this paper is explained based on existing theory.The second chapter is the study of comparing Chinese preposition and Korean corresponding postposition terms to discover similarities and differences between the two languages.It is discovered that the correspondence between Chinese preposition “zai” and Korean corresponding preposition term is not a one-to-one,but a one-to-many through semantic contrast.There are several meanings that can be introduced in Chinese preposition,such as “zai”,yet for corresponding Korean terms,sometimes it corresponds to “e”,other times corresponds to “eseo” and can also correspond to “euro”.Because the preposition “zai” can be used in several postposition terms to express meaning in Korean,it is undoubtedly difficult for Korean students to learn and master the meaning of the preposition “zai” From the semantic function point of view,the corresponding semantic relations between the two languages are intersected and different.The third chapter is the error analysis of Korean students using Chinese preposition “zai”.Through close investigation,the actual use case of Korean student's Chinese preposition “zai” was found.Korean students at the primary Chinese level and Korean students at the middle and advanced Chinese level have similar tendency of errors,with only different levels of precisions.They had the best understanding when the word “zai” was referring to location and had the least understanding when it was referring to hidden phenomenon.The fourth chapter discusses the causes of error and education suggestions of Chinese preposition “zai” by,first introducing the errors encountered by Korean students when learning Chinese preposition “zai”.Next,it discusses the causes of Korean students' error in learning and translating preposition “zai” due to negative transfer from their mother language and the interference of students' limited knowledge of the language.The fifth chapter shows the conclusion of this paper and shortcomings of the research,as well as future prospects.This paper introduces further insight on Korean students' understanding and grammatical characteristics of Chinese preposition “zai”.
