"Discipline" And "Interdiscipline": The Dual Vision Of Educational Technology

Both disciplinary study and interdisciplinary study are 2 different discourses styles of the development of science.Disciplinary studywhich has function of classification knowledge,is in a modernity pursuit of scientific development.And interdisciplinary study which manifests itself fully in the information society is internal demand of scientific development.Investigating any disciplines needs these 2 scientific discourses.This paper focuses on reviewing the Educational Technology from the perspectives of disciplinary and interdisciplinary study by deductive logic in philosophy vision.During last more than 20 years,Educational Technology is hard to deal with the dilemma of disciplinary development,even though it has got brilliant achievement.Thedeep reasons lie inthe lack of understanding of "discipline"and the neglect of its interdisciplinary nature.The understanding and development of Educational Technology needs the visons of disciplinary and interdisciplinary study.Firstly,the development of Educational Technology needs the vision of disciplinary study.Discipline has 2 logic levels,which are disciplinary knowledge and system.The discussion of disciplinization and disciplinary significance of Educational Technology should make its way on these 2 logic levels.Thereinto disciplinization is the established process of Educational Technology followed the disciplinary discourse.Thedisciplinization path on the knowledge level includes establishing the research object and core problem,forming research method and stating theoretical basis.And the paths of disciplinization of the system should be the formation of internal institutions and the construction of external institutions.On the other hand,the construction of theory systems is an important content of the disciplinization.In the perspective of philosophy of technology,this paper establishes a category system of Educational Technology with the deductive logic method,and then,emphasizes on discussing the core and the boundary of this discipline to describe its general picture.Secondly,the development of Educational Technology also needs the vision of interdisciplinary study.Bymeans of the investigation on interdisciplinary study under philosophy of science,the paper suggests that interdisciplinary study constitutes the causes and effects of the emergence and development of Educational Technology which is regarded as an interdisciplinary subject in the disciplinary nature.The theory and practice activities have four interdisciplinary developmental modes:"Borrowing","Reference","Symbiotic”and "Integration".Inaddition,this paper discusses the boundary work of Educational Technology based on the "formation" and"penetration"of this discipline,in order to clarity its interdisciplinary nature.At last,the paper focuses the research vision on the practice of Educational Technology.At present,the disciplinary system and professional education of Educational Technology are both in difficulty.This study argues that the conflict between the traditional pattern of disciplinary development model and the interdisciplinary nature of Educational Technology contributes to the deep-level reason for such difficulty.Following the interdisciplinary nature,and remodeling its disciplinary path from disciplinary knowledge,organizational system and disciplinary culture,is the way of the development of Educational Technology.
