Class Of Interdisciplinary Research

As a core element in university, discipline plays a crucial role in the development of university. Being first class disciplines, there is a first class university.The development of discipline follows the trend of integration—polarization— integration. Modern disciplines generalize continuously with accompany of polarization and the trend of integration is obvious. Many important social and technology problems depend on intersects comprehensively among multidisciplines most disciplines are interdisciplines in the course of forming a new discipline, therefore, developing interdisciplines is in accord with the rule of disciplinary development and the request of social development.Though developing inter disciplines don't play a decisive role in building a first class university, it is an important element in the generalization of the developments of science and discipline. By analyzing several typical world first class universities, the experience of building interdiscipline demonstrates in seven aspects, that is, a world first class university adjusts to the request of social development; it values the construction of basic discipline and the building of new style interdisciplinary organization; it creates an academic atmosphere of freedom; it makes the management mechanism of interdisciplinary development perfect; it develops interdiscipline with its advantages; it owns outstanding leaders and scholars. The construction of discipline facilitates the development of first class universities by promoting the level of functions of the university, consummating disciplinary organization, improving knowledge structure of teachers.There are more disparities on the interdisciplinary construction between the first class universities in China and world first class universities. This dissertation analyzes the causes from discipline itself, teacher, mechanism, concept and basic discipline. Meanwhile it comes up with some measures such as smashing disciplinary barrier, promoting the integration of discipline culture, strengthening construction of basic discipline , reinforcing interdiscipline education and research , cultivating creative talents, establishing the ideology of big science, building management mechanism which is adaptive to disciplinary comprehensive development.This dissertation presents shortcomings of interdisciplinary build in the first class universities in China and gives a reference to interdisciplinary constructions in the first class universities in China and promotion of disciplinary level and constructionof world first class universities by drawing on the successful experience of world first-class universities.
