The Ministry of Education requires the key competencies system as the basis for studying academic quality standards, revising of curriculum plans and curriculum standards.Key competencies is another major change in the basic education curriculum system following the reform of the high school curriculum in 2001.In order to implement key competencies in the biology curriculum,to highlight the unique educational value of the biology discipline in implementing the party's educational policy, implementing the fundamental tasks of the moral cultivation in education, and developing quality education, the biological key competencies has emerged. However, the key competencies of the subject is macroscopic, systematic and complex, junior high school biology teachers have some misunderstandings, and have some doubts in the daily teaching reform enthusiasm. In addition, the effective implementation of the key competencies evaluation of the discipline is directly related to the effectiveness of the education reform based on key competencies. Therefore this study is based on phenomenal theory and project response theory, uses the mixed research paradigm of qualitative research and quantitative research, and uses the theoretical construction--empirical research--to research the proposed path from 4 aspects:Research 1:The construction of biological key competencies structure of junior high school students.First,we use content analysis method to analyze relevant literature,semi-structured interview materials for excellent biology teachers in junior high school, and preliminary formulate the components and structural dimensions of biological key competencies of junior high school students.Secondly,we use the Delphi method to consult the biology education experts on the dimensions and elements. Finally, through the form of double mutual authentication,we construct a structure of biological key competencies of junior high school. The structure includes five types of structural dimensions and 36 components of their membership. The five types of structural dimensions are biological knowledge internalization, life science thinking, life science practice, biological principle application, and life science attitude. They have their own functions, but they are also interconnected and integrated with each other.Research 2:The construction of biological key competencies assessment index system of junior high school students.Based on the constructed model,we use the analytic hierarchy process to clarify the affiliation among factors, and assign the weight of each index by calculating the feature vector W and the maximum eigenvalue ? max of each judgment matrix, constructing a system of evaluation indicators for the biological key competencies of junior high school students. The weights of the five dimensions are from high to low:life science attitude>life science thinking>life science practice>biological principle application>biological knowledge internalization. The construction of the evaluation index system can clearly distinguish the importance of each indicator and clarify the relationship among the various elements.Research 3:Biological key competencies assessment of junior high school students.Based on the evaluation index system, combined with the biological big ideas of junior high school education, using the most advanced international R&D procedures,we have developed evaluation tools including paper and pencil test questions, life science attitude scales, and related factors questionnaires. And we use Rasch model analysis, project analysis, factor analysis and other methods to verify that the evaluation tool has high reliability and validity. Finally,we used the official version to evaluate 1308 junior high school students, used SPSS 24.0 and Winsteps 3.72.3 software to process and analyze the data, and used the Bookmark method to classify the results of students'assessments. The research shows that:(1)According to the students' paper and pencil evaluation results, students can be divided into 4 levels, from level I to level IV,the level of competencies has gradually increased, and the proportion of students at the II level is the highest.(2)The results of the scale evaluation show that the students' "Life Science Attitudes" scores are in a normal distribution, and the number of students with the highest scores is the highest.(3)The students' scale performance is positively correlated with the performance of paper and pencil evaluation, that is,as the level of the level increases, the students' scale evaluation performance is also better.Research 4:Revelation and discussion the factors related to the biological key competencies of junior high school students. We used questionnaires to collect background information on schools, families, teachers and students. We conducted a differential test on the results of students' assessments, revealing the impact of various factors on the biological key competencies of students, and provided a factual basis for decision-making in biology education. The research shows that:(1)Among the student factors, the competencies level of girls is significantly better than that of boys;the level of competencies of students without repetition is significantly higher than that of repeaters;the competencies level of non-residential students is significantly better than that of students living on campus;the level of competencies of students participating in the tutoring program was significantly higher than that of the non-participants.(2)Among the teacher factors, the competencies level of the students brought by female teachers is significantly higher;the competencies level of students taught by low teaching-age teachers is significantly higher;the competencies level of students taught by high-degree teachers is significantly higher;the competencies level of students taught by professional counterpart teachers is significantly higher;the competencies level of students taught by teachers who teach fewer classes is significantly higher;too many or too little teaching and research activities are not conducive to the improvement of students' competencies level.(3)Among the family factors, the competencies level of students with higher socioeconomic status is significantly higher;the level of competencies of students living with their parents is significantly higher;the level of competencies of left-behind children or migrant children is significantly lower;the level of competencies of students with rich learning resources at home is significantly higher;as the family's participation in children's learning increases, the students' competencies level will increase significantly.(4)Among the school factors, the competencies level of students in urban schools is significantly higher;the competencies level of students in private schools is significantly higher;as the school's learning resources become more abundant, the students' competencies level will increase significantly;the determination of the optimal class size requires consideration of multiple factors;good teacher-student relationship has a significant positive impact on students' competencies;good relationships between students aiso have a significant positive impact on students'competencies;as the safety of the school increases, the students' competencies level will increase significantly. This study makes a comprehensive discussion on the core competencies structure model, evaluation index system, evaluation tools, and competencies evaluation results of junior high school students. In addition, this study conductes a rational analysis from the 4 perspectives:national macro-control,family education, school education and teacher professional development.Based on these,we try to explore effective strategies to improve the biological core competencies level of students.
