The promotion of professional titles,as the core content of the academic professional system and the important formation mechanism of academic stratification,is an important issue for the career development of college teachers.It has been more than 100 years since Chinese college teacher professional title promotion system emerged.Analyzing its development process and grasping the logic of its system change will provide a theoretical reference for the reform of college teacher professional title promotion system.To this end,this research follows the overarching logic form the theoretical construction to historical review,to practical review,to path optimization of the Chinese college teacher title promotion system changes,investigating the three questions in relation to the evolution,mechanism of the changes,including the multiple modes,path dependence phenomenon and its development mechanism,and how to further optimize it.The research builds upon the foundation theories of historical institutionalism and sociological institutionalism mainly combined with other institutional theories of institutional change,and employs research methods of literature research,historical research,and text analysis to conduct research on the above propositions.Theoretical construction of Chinese college teacher professional title promotion system changes.The theoretical analytical framework is constructed based on the historical institutionalism,sociological institutionalism and others.This Research establishes a logical research line of "review of the history-change phenomenon and it's cause of path dependent,motivation sources,and optimization Path",and builds a multiple dynamic mechanism that integrates exogenous and endogenous forces by selecting the four elements of "institutional environment","conflict of interest","power game",and "cognitive perception".This breaks the horizontal empirical research or investigation research of “combing the status quo,summarizing problems,and suggesting countermeasures ” and vertical research inertia of “ history review,historical changes,structural changes,enlightenment /measures”.History review of the Chinese college teacher professional title promotion system changes.Based on the key node theory of historical institutionalism,the historical research method and text analysis method are used to sort out more than a hundred years of history of Chinese college teacher professional title promotion system.This study finds that Chinese college teacher professional title promotionsystem has undergone a process of transition from the academic-officer system to the qualification review appointment system to the lifelong appointment system of administrative to the post appointment system and post appointment system in parallel,to the post employment system.Practical Review of the Chinese college teacher professional title promotion system changes.This study analyzes the major models,path dependence,and sources of motivation for the Chinese college teacher professional title promotion system changes with these methods of using text analysis,historical research,and logical reasoning.The research has the following findings:(1)There are some characteristics in the models of the Chinese college teacher professional title promotion system changes: first,the system change is mainly designed by people,supplemented by spontaneous evolution;second,the government-led mandatory system change and induced system change are the mainly model;third,the fragmentary institutional change and the progressive institutional change alternate.(2)The Chinese college teacher professional title promotion system changes has significant path-dependent constraints: transplanting the system of promoting teacher titles in other countries,the government's strong control and the weak influence of ordinary college teachers over this system changes.(3)Changes in the institutional environment,conflicts of interest between subjects,the power game of action groups,and changes in the cognitive concepts of action subjects,etc.,constitute a diverse dynamical mechanism for the transition of the system for the promotion of teacher titles in Chinese universities.Exploration of the optimization paths of the Chinese college teacher professional title promotion system changes.Aiming at the limitations of the model choice,the path dependence,the multiple dynamic mechanisms of the Chinese college teacher professional title promotion system changes,this study explores the optimization paths for the Chinese college teacher professional title promotion system changes.First,optimize the choice of institutional change model,including further optimizing the artificial design model,timely changing the mandatory institutional change and the induced institutional change,and continuing to promote the gradual institutional change rather than the broken institutional change.Second,resolve the obstacles to institutional change: strengthen the awareness of independent innovation in the reform of the professional title promotion system;redefining the role of government in the reform of college teacher professional title promotion system;strengthen the participation of college teachers in the professional title promotion.Third,strengthenthe driving force for institutional change,including fostering an institutional environment conducive to the innovation of the title promotion system,coordinating and enhancing the joint forces for the reform of the title promotion system,the establishment of a pluralistic co-governance power structure for the main body of the professional title promotion system,and strengthening the consensus "academic standard" in the evaluation of professional title promotion evaluation system.This paper includes 1 picture,16 tables,and 306 references.
