Research On The Upgrading Mechanism Of The Manufacturing Industry In GMS Region Embedded In The Global Production Network

The global production network divides more and more division,many countries only engages in a certain production process,and undeveloped regions participate in the global division of labor according to their own factor endowments."Low-end locking" and "world factory" has aroused widespread concern in theoretical circles.It is important for underdeveloped areas to realize industrial upgrading in the global production network and get rid of two kinds of embarrassing situation.This paper follows the idea of "Clearing facts-Seeking principles-Simulation-Case studies".Take the GMS area as an example,firstly analyzing the status of embedded networks;secondly,from the micro basis for the development of seeking manufacturing enterprise level upgrade,analysis of the role of learning effect and innovation effect;Then based on the field research data studying the development path of upgrading of manufacturing with the simulation method.Finally with the means of case studies,include in automobile industry in Thailand,Laos the cement manufacturing industry and garment industry in Cambodia,which corroborated the degree and development of global production networks embedded in the region's manufacturing industry.Lastly,the paper will put forward the policy advice of GMS manufacturing upgrading embedded global production network,so as to provide some reference for the upgrading and development of manufacturing industry in this region or other undeveloped countries.Specific research results are as follows:(1)By TiVA data of GMS national manufacturing,found that GMS national trade added value increased and then decreased,with the import of intermediate products in this region,shows that early GMS countries rarely participate in global division of labor,and in recent years the degree of participation improve increasingly,but its embedded is also in the low level of trade,low added value.Whether it is sub industry,or in contrast with Asian countries,GMS countries are still in the low-end position of the global value chain.Based on the theory of vertical specialization,Yunnan and Guangxi,by measuring the GVC index,found that the extent of the two provinces manufacturing embedded in the global production network is lower than the national average.In summary,the level of GMS manufacturing industry which enbaded global production network is relatively low,low-end position of the value chain.(2)By "East-West" national model,less developed areas participate to the global division of labor simply,can promote the productivity of,and improve the welfare of the country,but its technical level has not been increased,the gap between the western countries is widening.If the eastern countries learning technology spillover of the west in the process of participating the global production,shrinking technology gap between the two countries.In a word,only in the less developed area to participate in the process of global production networks,through the learning mechanism,to improve part of technology.Based on the dynamic system model,analyzing the effect of innovation to enterprise technology.It is found that the independent innovation ability and the human capital is the key factor for enterprise knowledge accumulation and technological progress.Through the investment of the independent innovation ability and the accumulation of human capital,maybe knowledge level of domestic enterprises in less developed areas will be more than foreign enterprise.The above two points is helpful to GMS about industrial upgrading development.(3)Based on the model above analysis,establishing a system dynamic model of manufacturing industry to upgrade the development of the GMS area,and the causal relationship is based on the results of the survey.Buliding" Enterprise development"and "Industrial upgrading" two subsystems,the simulation learning effect,spillover effect of innovation development of the industry in the region of GMS.The result showed that that this two can promote technological progress,industrial development.The model also simulates the entrepreneurial spirit,indicating that excellent entrepreneurs can create a good corporate culture,drive the development of enterprises,and ultimately promote the development of the industry.Finally,from the enterprise to the industry,the idea of promoting industrial upgrading by enterprises development is feasible.(4)Analyzing the Thailand automatic manufacturing industry,Laos cement manufacturing industry and Cambodia garment industry,it is found that the development of enterprises can be improve the industrial agglomeration;Learning-spillover effect,innovation effect,and even the entrepreneurial spirit,corporate culture can promote industrial upgrading.
