High-end equipment manufacturing(HEM)industry is a strategic emerging industry,which is known as high technology,high value-added,advanced facilities and equipment.It plays a crucial role in the national economic development and the national security.Facing with challenges of economic globalization,rapid promotion of science and technology and increasingly fierce market competition,it becomes one of the most important tasks to promote the global competiveness of high-end equipment products and to develop HEM industry for realizing the long-run growth of China.High-end equipment products are featured as complex system integration,high intensity of knowledge and advanced technology.These features determine that HEM enterprises can not accomplish their tasks alone.HEM enterprises must rely on the resources integration and cooperation with their suppliers to complete the development and production of high-end equipment products.The HEM enterprise has a large number of suppliers.But different suppliers have diverse technical ability,supply capacity and cooperation ability.However,general suppliers can not supply high technology,high value-added and dedicated resources which high-end equipment products require.Only suppliers with special asset investment and long-term technology accumulation can meet specific needs of high-end equipment products.Meanwhile,such suppliers are often extremely critical and have significant impact on HEM enterprises.It shows the interdependence between HEM enterprises and their key suppliers is obvious.Further,cultivating the interdependent relationship of both parties is particularly important for the development of high-end equipment products.However,it has never been known how to effectively promote the interdependent relationship formation of HEM enterprises with their key suppliers.It has also become a significant issue to be resolved urgently in the field of HEM supplier management.Therefore,it is important to explore the formation mechanism of the interdependent relationship between HEM enterprises and key suppliers from both theoretical and practical perspectives.In this paper,a review of supplier classification and the interdependence between enterprises and suppliers is given.Resource dependence theory,relationship theory and transaction cost theory are selected as the theoretical basis.Using various methods such as literature analysis,statistical analysis,mathematical modeling and simulation method,the formation mechanism of interdependent relationship between HEM enterprises and partnership suppliers is discussed.Firstly,this paper makes a classification for suppliers of HEM enterprises from the new perspective of interdependence.Through analyzing and comparing characteristics of various types of suppliers,identify that partnership suppliers are especially vital and have great influence on HEM enterprises.Consequently,partnership suppliers are selected as the research object and defined.Further,this paper defines the interdependent relationship of HEM enterprises with partnership suppliers.Based on resource dependence theory,relation theory and transaction cost theory,the study uses literature analysis,interview and expert judgment method to extract the key factors that exert significant influences on the interdependent relationship formation of HEM enterprises with partnership suppliers,including resource complementarity,relationship quality and switching costs.Secondly,on the basis of extracted key influencing factors of interdependent relationship formation between HEM enterprises and partnership suppliers,this paper constructs a theoretical model of effect mechanism of key influencing factors,and puts forward corresponding hypotheses.These hypotheses include that resource complementarity has a positive effect on interdependent relationship formation,relationship quality mediates the positive relationship between resource complementarity and interdependent relationship formation,and switching costs moderate the strength of the indirect effect of resource complementarity on interdependent relationship formation via relationship quality.After testing the reliability,the validity and the homogeneity variance of original data,multivariate hierarchical regression is used to test the theoretical model and corresponding hypotheses.The empirical results provide support for the overall theoretical model.The study finds that resource complementarity is positively related to interdependent relationship formation between HEM enterprises and partnership suppliers.Relationship quality partially mediates the effect of resource complementarity on interdependent relationship formation,and perceived switching costs enhance the relationship between relationship quality and interdependent relationship formation.Thirdly,based on research results of effect mechanism of influencing factors,this paper uses the Logistic model to construct the formation mechanism model of the interdependent relationship between HEM enterprises and partnership suppliers.The model is solved and analyzed through stability analysis method of differential equations.Meanwhile,this paper also uses the simulation method to reveal the formation mechanism of interdependent relationship of HEM enterprises with partnership suppliers.The results indicate that when resource complementarity matches relationship quality and both are controlled at the appropriate level,over time,HEM enterprises with partnership suppliers can achieve mutual benefits through cooperation,and the relationship of both parties becomes more and more stable,so that both parties form the interdependent relationship in the process of long-term cooperation.Finally,a typical enterprise A from HEM industry and its partnership supplier B are selected as cases for application study.This paper further validates the research conclusions on the effect mechanism of influencing factors and the formation mechanism of interdependent relationship between HEM enterprises and partnership suppliers.On this basis,this paper puts forward tactic suggestions that promote HEM enterprises with partnership suppliers to form the interdependent relationship,from three aspects of resource,relationship and cost.This paper proposes a supplier classification model for HEM enterprises based on the perspective of interdependence,and analyzes the effect mechanism of influencing factors of interdependent relationship formation.This paper also reveals the formation mechanism of the interdependence relationship between HEM enterprises and partnership suppliers.This paper not only enriches the theoretical research of supplier classification and supplier relationship management,but also provides theoretical basis and practical guidance for cultivating the interdependent relationship of HEM enterprises with partnership suppliers.
