Abstract/Summary:
This study successfully applied the CSF approach to the police and the public in a South Atlantic state to bridge the gap in the research on the role of police forces and their relation to the community. The inquiry resulted in the identification of five commonly shared factors within seven CSFCs---communication, qualifications and training, organizational structure and support, value-based community relations, and work ethics---and should therefore be promoted to achieve effective relations between civilians and law enforcers. These CSFs serve as the key performance indicators in introducing a police reform agenda to improve social acceptability.
