| The purpose of this dissertation is to discuss the various topics of the history of teacher training education in late Ching China, from 1897 to 1911.; In my dissertation, I point out that the introduction of teacher training education in late Ching China was part of the educational reform movement at that time. One of the special areas focused on is that Japan was a reform model for China's teacher training education; the school system, curriculum and teaching materials all drew close reference from Japan. On the other hand, that many Chinese students were keen on taking intensive teacher training courses in Japan is another aspect I have emphasized.; The development of the teacher training education in late Ching China was faced with difficulties. Lack of financial support and insufficient teaching resources were the main problems. However, with the unceasing effort made by both the teachers and students of many normal schools in China, the problems were overcome eventually. What they had achieved had made a great contribution to the modernization of China. |
