Abstract/Summary:
Outsourcing has notable benefits but implementing it does not always guarantee a positive outcome. Since strategic and innovation initiatives are generally large, complex projects with specific time constraints, outsourcing work is often used to address a resource gap. This research considered the psychological impacts by studying the Project Manager's perceptions when project tasks are outsourced. Specifically, this study focused on the PM's perception towards the service quality of outsourcing, job satisfaction and sustained competitiveness. The results indicated that although there was no statistically significant correlation between the study participants' calculated SERVQUAL and the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (MSQ) scores when compared to their years of service or experience, respondents perceived outsourcing positively and viewed outsourcing as a strategic tool rather than a cost savings measure.
