As the country's strategic resource and an important hub for the global allocation, port plays an important role in protecting smooth operation of the national economy and promoting effective development in international trade. Many governments have recognized port in a strategic position, becoming an important foundation for participation in international competition and a main support of economic development. With the construction of global value chain and global production network, urgent gathering high-end elements of regional economic development and strategic support of comprehensive services, struggling to establish hub port and heavily constructing deep-water container terminal, globalization of port operation and the ongoing decentralization of public responsibilities, a wide range of strategic alliances between shipping companies and the large-scale trend of the ship tonnage, the formation of global supply chain and increasing service requirement, the internal and external development environment of port has becoming even more complex. The dissertation employs management science, logistics operation, transportation, regional economy and other cross-disciplinary approach, integrating modern concepts of supply chain orientation, co-opetition, evolutionary game and servise cluster, combined with management operation and development trend, analyzing operation stategy and development mechanism of port system, exploring a new perspective of enhancing port competitiveness in order to provide decision-making basis and realize the sustainable development of modern port, the main contents are as follows:Firstly, this dissertation studies shipping route coordination of ports and evolutionary game of strategy profile. On the basis of the impact of world economy and international trade development to international shipping, considering international shipping market supply and demand conditions from a global fleet operational efficiency and the major trade countries fleet share. From an aspect of the liner company to build port route network, finding the hub ports and the shipping backbones as well as the port playing the role in transit transport of goods and portal position in international trade development. Introduction the externality and compatibility to shipper's utility function, studies the game strategy of port berth locating, stevedoring charge and service quality. The coordination model between ports is constructed to research the optimal strategy portfolio of service utility, port charge and the maximum overall profit, finding the dynamic change of addle point with container market demand basement, service utility and port charge sensitivity, unit TEU variable cost, fixed cost investment coefficient through evolutionary game.Secondly, this dissertation makes a study about the equilibrium of congestion tolling system and corridor investment between port and hinterland to enhance port competitiveness. Interaction of port competition and hinterland accessibility condition is analyzed. Because the overall efficiency of the transport supply chain is determined by the most vulnerable link or node, congestion tolling system and capacity investing model is constructed based on multi-vehicle, a two-stage game where strategically setting capacity in the first stage and imposing toll in the second stage, comparing the optimal corridor investment and congestion tolling as well as hinterland welfare under the different size of region and share of cargo transport. Combined advertising-R&D model with Cobb-Douglas production function, we consider a subsidy mechanism between coastal port and inland dry port.Thirdly, the dissertation investigates the operation management between port areas or terminals of one port. Considering the reform of the port privatization and strategic transformation of global terminal operator, the Logit game model is constructed to analyse the equilibrium charge depends not only on the throughput of its own and others, the marginal cost of container processing, but also on the coefficients of the container terminal total cost and container market total aggregate demand. In the circumstance of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Port Area, analyzing the cooperative game between different terminals of the same port area, similarly discussing the cooperative game between port areas of a port, the concepts of characteristic function and core are used to analyse the stability of coalitions and the trends of equilibrium charge, market share and coalition profit. Finally, this dissertation looks into comprehensive maritime service capability of modern port. With the functional development of port, analyzing the transformation to maritime service center; through matrixes analysis of market share, employment number and overseas earning researching the dynamic evolution of maritime service cluster. Facing main challenges and development initiatives as well as drawing on the experience of maritime service cluster in the end.
