The sub-high frequency component of modern Chinese characters refers to the basic component of modern commonly used characters in the range of 50-100.This paper selects a set of sub-high frequency components with the number of characters in the range of 50-59,establishes a data table according to the latest component specification,makes an exhaustive analysis of the shape source and function of the 11 components in the construction." ? " and " ? " are single-source components,and the rest are multi-source components.In addition to the bulk source,there are variant source,simplified source,and modified source.The variant source of "? "?" "?" is typical.The proportion of variant source is second only to that of ontological source,especially the variant source.This group of components generally have ideographic function,components for the phonetic function of the construction of few words.With the evolution of the component form,the pictographic features of the initial text have been weakened,but the core features are generally passed on,and the phenomenon of misrepresentation is common in the evolution.Glyph rationale transferred to hidden,and the ideographic function also transferred from constructing meaning by shape to constructing meaning by meaning.The ideographic function of single-source components is still strong.In addition,this paper also discusses the motivation of the evolution of the form and function of components.This paper holds that the motivation of the evolution of the component form mainly includes the trend of seeking simplicity on the glyph,trends in glyphs for distinction,the trend of homologation in glyph,and the requirements for physical survival or renewal.The evolution of component functions is mainly related to the trend of simplification of Chinese character evolution,the complexity of component shape and source,and the trend of more and more picto-phonetic characters.
