Emotional intelligence,also known as emotion quotient(EQ),as one of the important factors that affect the development and success of the human,whether in academia or in society has been pursued by many people.College students as the leader of the youth,in addition to the successful completion of their studies,but also need to improve their ability,in which emotional intelligence is one of them.Based on the comprehensively theoretical and empirical studies of emotional intelligence,this research conducted the "Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire for college students",explore the characteristics of emotional intelligence of college students,and carried out the training research of emotional intelligence.Research 1:The establishment of Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire for college students.Based on literature and emotional intelligence theory,we prepared theitems.After the items preparation,the items were evaluated by experts,then we examined the item analysis and reliability,validity of Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire for college students,we also examined with exploratory factoranalysis,confirmatory factor analysis.This research also examinedtheconvergent validity,discriminant validity,predictive validityof this questionnaire,so as to ensure the reliability and validity of the questionnaire.The results showed that the questionnaire could become the effective measuring tool to examining emotional intelligence of college students.Research 2:The evaluation of emotional intelligence of college students.In order to investigate the six different characteristics of college students’ emotional intelligence on overall situation,gender,grade,family locus,whether theone-child,speciality,we conducted the quantitative research with the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire for college students,to provide basis for the training of emotional intelligence of college students.Research 3:The training of emotional intelligence of college students.Using the evaluation tool of research 1,the emotional intelligence features of college students in research 2,this research designed the factors in the training experiment.The research of training experiment had been carried out for those college students with lower scores on Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire for college students,by way of group psychological training to improve these students’ self-awareness,interpersonal relationships,and the ability of stress management and adaptation and so on.Thus the state of psychology of college students had been improved,and their health level hadraised.By studying the characteristics and training of college students’ emotional intelligence,we draw the following conclusions:1.The "Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire for college students" had good reliability and validity,it could be used as a reliable and effective tool to measure college students’ emotional intelligence in China.The internal consistency coefficient of the questionnaire subscales was between 0.646~0.924,indicated that the homogeneity was higher,also showed that the reliability and stability of the final questionnaire.Through exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis,the structure of questionnaire was consistent with Bar-on social emotional intelligence theory,and through the convergent validity,discriminant validity and predictive validity of the test,further proved the validity of the questionnaire.The "Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire for college students" consisted of 57 questions,divided into intrapersonal,interpersonal,stress management,adaptability,general mood of 5 subscales,composed of self-regard,emotional self-awareness,assertiveness,independence,self-actualization,empathy,social responsibility,interpersonal relationship,stress tolerance,impulse control,reality testing,flexibility,problem solving,optimism,happiness in 15 dimensions.2.Overall,the emotional intelligence of college students was above the medium level,scores of all dimensions were more than 4 points.This showed that the overall level of emotional intelligence of college students was higher.3.From the view of the gender characteristics of college students’ emotional intelligence.The general mean score of emotional intelligence of girls was 5.16,and the boys’ was 5.06.By analyzing the gender differences of college students,emotional intelligence,we found that female college students were higher than male college students in interpersonal adaptability,introspection,and total scores,while in stress management and general mood,there was no significant differences between male and female college students.4.From the view of the grade characteristics of college students’ emotional intelligence,emotional intelligence increased with increasing grade of college students.The emotional intelligence of college students in two subscales of intrapersonal and stress management had significant grade difference.The total score of emotional intelligence of college students also had significant grade difference.There was no significant difference in the three aspects of interpersonal,adaptability,and general mood.5.From the view of the specialty characteristics of college students’ emotional intelligence,the total average score of emotional intelligence of students majoring in literature and history was 5.19,while the total average score of emotional intelligence of students majoring in science and engineering was 5.09.By analyzing the specialty difference of emotional intelligence of college students,it is found that the students of literature and history majoring in interpersonal,adaptability and total score was significantly higher than that of students majoring in science and engineering,and in the three aspects of intrapersonal,stress management and general mood,two kinds of specialized student did not exist significant difference.6.Based on Bar-on social emotional intelligence theory,through the way of group psychological counseling,emotional intelligence training can effectively improve the level of emotional intelligence of college students.7.Through the follow-up study of 3 months and 6 months after the emotional intelligence training,we found that the effect of the emotional intelligence training of college students still exists,and the emotional intelligence level of experimental group and control group still existed significant difference.
