A Study On The Volitional Quality Cultivation Of College Students In The New Era

The cultivation of youth volitional quality is an essential part of ideological and political education.It is also a key element to “what type of people the higher education cultivates”.The Chinese Communist Party and the government have always been deeply concerned about the healthy development of college students and pay close attention to the cultivation of college students' volitional quality.President Xi Jinping emphasized that young people should "not slack,and not lose faith," when he visited the China University of Political Science and Law.The volitional quality of the youth plays an indispensable role in influencing their pursuit of goals and their behavioral orientation.The contemporary Chinese society has transformed into a new era.With the rapid development of economy and the improved living standard,the cultivation of youth volitional quality has become an important and urgent issue.The volitional quality of college students can be strengthened through the tempering of "work their muscles and hungry their skin",so that they can overcome difficulties,achieve specific life goals,and undertake the great mission of national rejuvenation.Looking at the current situation,the volitional quality of college students has not reached such requirements.Thus,it is critical and necessary to cultivate volitional quality of college students.This research is an in-depth and systematic study of the cultivation of college students' volitional quality in the new era and has significant contribution to the theory development and application.This study applies the Marxism theories and methods of “what – why – how”,and explains the theoretical basis of the volitional quality,the formation mechanism of volitional quality cultivation,and the current characteristics and innovative practices of volitional quality of college students.This study consists of five parts.Part one: basic research questions of cultivating college students' volitional quality.This part answers “what” and it is the theoretical premise of the whole paper.By analyzing the development of the volitional quality in context of philosophy and psychology,this paper analyzes the social,developmental,and practical characteristics of the volitional quality.The volitional quality of college students affects their motivations and behaviors in determining goals,executing decisions,facing difficulties,facing setbacks,and facing success.Analyzing the behavior can help us better understand the core of their volitional quality and the complexity and necessity of it.Part two: the ideological source of the cultivation of college students' volitional quality.This part mainly includes three aspects: ideological guidance,ideological reference and cultural adherence.It based on the theories of positive psychology and frustration education,the ideological guidance of Marxism,and the volitional quality rooted in our country's traditional culture.These provide the ideological and theoretical basis of cultivation of college students' volitional quality.Part three: the practical requirements of college students' volitional quality in the new era.This part answers “why” and focuses on the new environment in which educators are facing in the new era,as well as the new challenges and new future path.The cultivation of the volitional quality of college students has both historical impacts and new requirements.In this new era,the volitional quality is essential for college students to consolidate their beliefs,work hard,be persistent,and succeed at current times.I clarify the specific requirements of the cultivation of the volitional quality of college students and provides reference for the future cultivation path selection.Part four: present situation of college students' volitional quality in the new era.This part also answers “why” and it is the empirical study of the research.I apply research methods of pedagogy,sociology,and psychology.By using questionnaires and interviews and observing the gap between the current status and requirements of college students' volitional quality,I examine the issues of college students' understanding,recognition and practice of volitional quality;analyzes current problems of the volitional quality cultivation of college students;and provides a practical basis for the path selection to cultivate the volitional quality of college students in the new era.Part five: the practical innovation of cultivating college students' volitional quality in the new era.This part answers “how” and it proposes the principles,path selection and optimization strategies of the cultivation of the volitional quality of college students in the new era.It is based on the principles of consciousness,timely manner,progressiveness,and is carried out through the integration of education content,creation of an educational atmosphere,and design of a practical platform.Meanwhile,it is important to constantly optimize the education strategy by optimizing the institutional mechanisms,integrating resources,improving the education model,and strengthening tracking evaluation,in order to comprehensively improve the volitional quality of college students in the new era.
