British is one of the world’s recognized powerful nation of education. The education level ranks on the top of the world, especially in the field of high education and continuing education, it was known as the hometown of continuing education. The education was distributed at 16 to 19 years old after compulsory education, students could choose to continue to accept academic education or choose to accept vocational education. But under the long term influence of emphasizing knowledge above technology,the British vocational education fell far behind the academic education. And the main problem of vocational education was the disagreement of career training between enterprise and school. With the development of economic and facing the problem of vocational education, British government focused on apprenticeship. British apprenticeship had a long history, but it fell into downturn after the second world war. Because the traditional apprenticeship centered on inheriting manual technology was not adapting to the requirements of the Times. Therefore, British government reformed the traditional apprenticeship to modern apprenticeship since 1990 s. After the reform, the modern apprenticeship play an active role in vocational education.Our country began to carry out apprenticeships project recent years, but only for students learned in vocational schools, most of them were minors. In addition,we haven’t formed a sound system of apprenticeship yet. So, referencing the experience of British apprenticeship reform would have enlightenment to our country.The dissertation was mainly used the method of literature researching to analyzes the research situation, which lay the foundation for the further research. Used the method of history researching to summarize the process of British apprenticeship development、the reform process and reform contents comprehensively. Finally, through the elaboration of results after British apprenticeship reform, showing that Britain’s apprenticeship reform was successful, then used the method of comparative researching to summarized the British apprenticeship reforming had important significance for development of chinese apprenticeship.
