In recent years, digital technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence have shown an explosive growth trend, changing the basic form of original products, the production way of new product, and even subverting the traditional business models and business processes. As a result, the renewal and iteration of market products has been accelerating, and a large number of new market opportunities have emerged, which has greatly stimulated the prosperity of entrepreneurial activities. However, due to various reasons, such as the high risk of the entrepreneurial process itself, the mismatch of the entrepreneur’s personal abilities or preferences, etc.,about 35% of the startups were closed in the year they were founded, and only about 30% of the startups could survive for 5 years or more.It should be said that the exiting of some enterprises is a direct manifestation of market metabolism and self-improvement.It is worth noting that a special talent group has emerged in this process:Statistics show that about 45% of entrepreneurs will choose to join other existing employers after ending a spell of entrepreneurial experience to achieve employment. In view of the prevalence of entrepreneurs choosing to join existing employers after their ending a spell of entrepreneurial experience, and the limitations of the current literature on entrepreneurial groups and entrepreneurial behavior in interpreting related issues, this research intends to explore the following basic questions: How does the entrepreneurial experience insistently influence the individual career after joining an existing employer? The answer to this question will directly affect the formulation of corporate talent strategies and individual career planning, being of important practical significance and social value. However, the current literature on entrepreneurship research and human resource development has not yet been able to answer this question well, and there is a lack of direct attention to the talent group who chooses to return to the existing employers for employment after ending a spell of entrepreneurial experience.Specifically, this research includes three research contents: Firstly, the impact and mechanism of entrepreneurial experience on individual entry salary are investigated from the job search stage in the workplace.Further, other human capital signals in addition to entrepreneurial experience signal and non-human capital signals are incorporated into the analysis framework to explore the contextual role of other signal sources in this process.Secondly,it examines the effect and mechanism of entrepreneurial experience on individual job performance from the development stage of workplace, and proposes and tests the strengthening mechanism of the entrepreneurial imprinting effect from a number of contextual characteristics based on the imprinting process.Thirdly,it examines the influence and mechanism of entrepreneurial experience on individual turnover from the exit stage of the workplace, and investigates the dynamic intervention mechanism of the entrepreneurial imprinting effect around the three dimensions of organizational commitment. The empirical results show that:(1)Compared with individuals with no entrepreneurial experience, individuals with entrepreneurial experience will receive a higher entry salary after returning to the existing employer. However, when the individual has the elite education or is over 35 years old,the premium effect of entrepreneurial experience on the entry salary will be weakened.(2)Compared with individuals without entrepreneurial experience, under the influence of entrepreneurial imprinting effect, individuals with entrepreneurial experience will achieve better job performance in existing employers. The analysis around the strengthening mechanism of the entrepreneurial imprinting effect further shows that the positive effect of the entrepreneurial imprinting will be strengthened when the entrepreneurial environment experienced by the individual is more uncertain, the job position matches the functions of the entrepreneurial period, and the time is closer to the end of the entrepreneurship.(3)Compared with individuals without entrepreneurial experience, individuals with entrepreneurial experience are more likely to leave after returning to the existing employer. The analysis around the dynamic intervention mechanism shows that, when individuals can participate in leadership training or their teams’ engagement are higher, the impact of entrepreneurial imprinting on turnover will be weakened, but salary increase will have no obvious effect.
