With the booming development of the electric power industry and the establishment of the large power station in domestic one after the other, the capacity of the Steam Turbine also enlarge continuously, then put forward the higher request to the design and machining capacity of this industry and the same to the related cutting tool industry. Slotting cutter is the specialized cutter for the rotor slot of the Steam Turbine, its quality will affect to the machining efficiency, accuracy and quality directly. However, a great deal of high precision cutter like this needed in domestic still be at the underway stage. Comparing with the same model abroad it is easy to wear and even to collapse the blade in processing, which affect machining accuracy and efficiency seriously.In the circumstances, this paper selected'Strength Finite Element Analysis of the Fine Slotting Cutter'as research contents, adopt the computer technique, choose to use the UG and ANSYS software to be the entity model establishment and analytical platform. Build up a fine slotting cutter entity model and a finite element analysis model, then complete the analysis to the modal, mechanical and thermal stress that the cutter have ,based on this to find out the most weak point of the cutter, thus provide the theories basis for the structure optimize design,reasonable allotment and choose for cutting dosage and fix on the technics with the most convenient and fast way. At the same time this dissertation saw about the stress field and the biggest transform changed with the load value worked on cutter changed, the rigidity of the cutter and clamp system with different clamp length of hilt in addition, thereby study on the strength of the slotting cutter systematically and comprehensively.This dissertation applies a finite element analysis software ANSYS to study the strength of the fine slotting cutter. Master the force of every point accurately,realize the distribution rule of the stress inside the cutter and gain the stress field and find out the dangerous point expediently. The method will have some reference value to the strength and invalidation analysis for the other kinds of slotting cutter and other cutters etc.
