Azoic dyes are the most kinds in dyestuffs, and they are used in various fibrous dyeing. Some dye intermediates have been forbidden, because they can cause cancers. Benzidine is the biggest influence on the dyestuff industry. Since benzidine was banned, the main research is focused on the synthesis of other types of azoic dyes, which can replace . these cancer-causing compounds. In this thesis, we studied this kind of substitutes, including three points as follows.1. N, N'-1, 4-phenylene bis[4-amino-benzensufonamide]which can replace carcinogenic dye intermediate benzidine was synthesized. The structure of the compound was determined by IR,1HNMR, MS.2. Using the above-mentioned dye intermediate, eight kinds of diazo direct dyes were synthesized via diazo reaction and coupling reaction, seven of which weren't reported in documents. The structures of these dyes were determined by IR,'HNMR, MS and visible absorption spectra.3. These dyes' dyeing properties on leather and textile were investigated. Through measuring, the light fastness and rubbing fastness of the dyed leather proved good.
