As one functional part of the rig, drilling pump carries the rock debris from the bottom of the well and supplies power to the drilling tool in the well drilling process. With the development of the oil industry, it requests the higher pressure, higher power, lower service cost, lower weight and lower flow fluctuation of the drilling pump. Now, the drilling pump widespread in use is the tri-cylinder pump. Although, it has met the modern well drilling needs in pressure and capacity, the tri-cylinder pump has its inevitable shortcoming with using the crank link mechanism. Its higher weight, bigger flow fluctuation, lower efficiency, lower component life, all these are not in concordance with the modern drilling machine with highly effective energy conservation and fast speed transportation. It put forward one new driven section of the drilling pump that will overcome the shortcoming of the trip-cylinder pump in this article.This article proposed one kind of drilling pump that the piston is driven by the ball bearing spiral mechanism. The pump is composed of the asynchronous motor, the frequency converter, the gear, the magnetic powder clutch, the ball bearing spiral mechanism, the piston, the cylinder, the ball bearing strut, the fluid end, the programmable controller, the position switch, the velocity sensor and so on. The power is provided by the electrical motor, the piston actuation carries out by the ball bearing spiral mechanism, the piston direction alternation is controlled by two magnetic powder clutches, the entire control system is completed by PLC. It displayed the development situation of the drilling pump firstly this article. And then, it drawn this new kind of drilling pump to compare with the tri-cylinder pump that are used widespreadly at present by the aspect of the structure, kinematics, dynamics, efficiency and so on, and then, calculates and designs the critical components of the drilling pump and draw the program of the control system. Finally, carries on the simulation of the drilling pump, and draws the conclusion.This kind of drilling pump has many of merits, such as the simple structure, the steady transmission, the light weight, the high efficiency, the fast speed transportation, the very small flow capacity fluctuation, the smart power combination, and so on. This kind of pump is suitable in the well drilling process that carries the sludge. Using this kind of pump replacing the tri-cylinder pump may lengthen the service life of the drilling pump, cancel the air chamber that reduces the flow fluctuation, enhance the integral performance of the drilling pump.
