Virtual reality is one of the hot points in current computer technology.Virtual reality; multi-media technology and network technology are called as the three best prospects technologys of computer technology. With the development of computer technology and research for system simulation, single machine virtual Labs and two-dimensional virtual Labs can not satisfy the requirement, so the research of the Interact-3D virtual lab has become a research hot spot. Chromatography Instruments are widely used and expensive, so it is very useful to develop virtual Chromatography lab for the training of instruments and experiment teaching.At present, the virtual Labs rest on the simple simulation. The outstanding works which are based on the mathematical model, and developed by true virtual reality, have the function of simulating analysis instruments with data could be transferred on dynamically,interactively and real time are not appear. This paper does the research under this background.The building of the three-dimensional,real-time and high interaction VL is a complicated process, which needs to solve some crucial problems in three-dimensional scene such as real-time and high interaction, data transmission and storage, chemistry workstation, information feedback, appraisal system and so on. In this paper, a new technique (3ds Max+Virtools) whose core is Virtools technique is selected after analyzing and comparing the diversified development platforms of the mainstream virtual reality.Furthermore, the problems are solved through constructing the virtual chromatography lab.Based on gas chromatographic theory, according to the relationship between the alcohol's retention parameters and the flow rate of carrier gas as well as column temperature, predicted models of alcohol's retention parameters in different experimental conditions are constructed. In the three-dimensional virtual lab for the gas chromatography, the three-dimensional virtul model and virtul lab are constructed by 3ds Max at first.The experimental conditions parameter could be changed dynamically, interactively and on real time and data could be transferred on real time by BB+SDK program, chromatographic curves in different experimental conditions could be drawn on the virtools workstation, and this paper has completed simulating the course of gas chromatography experiment.The results in the virtual experiment are close to those in the real experiment. The three-dimensional virtual lab constructed by this paper has true scence, and complettly displayed the appearance of the true lab. In the VL, users likely stay in the true lab and can operate the Virtual Instrument like true Instrument. It has widely practical prospects in chromatography experiments and the training of chromatography instruments. At the same time, helpful experience is got for future VL's development.
