With the rapid development of economy and urbanization in Foshan, the number of motor vehicle increased at a very high speed, and there were motor vehicles 355427, among which were motorcycles 262975, automobiles 92452 in Foshan in 2005. Because the exhaust functions of motor vehicles made in China are bad at present, and road traffic construction and management are backward in Foshan, the integrated exhaust factors of motor vehicles are high, which makes motor vehicles emission pollution rise rapidly. At the same time, because of the crowded traffic and high population density, the share rate of motor vehicles emission pollution in atmosphere pollution increases year after year in Foshan. At present, atmosphere pollution have developed from soot-type to automobile emission-type gradually, and how to control motor vehicles emission pollution effectually, promote the stable, coordinative and continuous development of social economy, environment and resources in Foshan, is a question what we should solve eagerly.There are obvious local and regional characteristics in motor vehicles emission pollution, so choosing Foshan as the study object, the author investigated motor vehicle quantities and the construction situation of roads, analyzed the producing mechanism and harmfulness of motor vehicles emission, set up the model of air pollution on traffic road, combined experimental teaching and research work together, selected Fen-jiang Road, Zu-miao Road, Ren-min Road to represent the main road, secondary road and general road separately, and organized students to monitor the flow magnitude, speed, proportion of motor vehicles and its operation condition, at the same time, record the concentration of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide from motor vehicles emission. Based on a great deal of monitoring data and relevant material, the characteristics and rules of motor vehicles emission pollution in Foshan were analyzed, the share rate of gross quantity of the motor vehicles emission pollution, the share rate of quantity of the pollutant from different types of motor vehicle, and the share rate of pollutant concentration on the road were confirmed, and the influence of the atmosphere environment pollution from the motor vehicles emission pollution was quantified. In the end, some Countermeasures including policy, management and technique are proposed to control emission pollution. These measures are of great important to improve the environmental atmosphere quality, reduce the morbidity of local residents, promote the development of economic construction and environmental protection steadily, coordinatly, continuously in Foshan, and also offer valuable reference to traffic management in the cities around Foshan.
