PBT is short for polyethylene terephthalate. With its superior performance in the field of engineering plastics and textile f ibers, PBT has been developed considerably. P BT possesses durability, dimensional stability and good wet strength analogously with polyester, and also has better softness and wear-resisting performance similarly to polyamide fiber. In addition, the dyeing properties of PBT is superior to polyester and polyamide fiber, so PBT is dyed fast using dispersive pigments and boiling dyeing methods under ordinary pressure. Though PBT doesn’t have excellent elastic like spandex, it has a better chance of chlorine resistance and manufacture cost to be supplement or alternative to spandex away from high cost and low elasticity. PBT is a kind of fiber materials with better comprehensive performance, playing a vital role in the progress of elastic fibers and elastic fabrics.At present, the study of PBT mostly focus on the performance and modification of PBT fiber itself, but fewer in applying for woven elastic fabric, particularly in elastic denim fabric. Therefore, this topic did research on spinning process of cotton/ PBT core-spun yarn based on analyzing and studying the physical and chemical properties of PBT, which investigated spinning inf luencing factors of spinning process of core-spun yarn and optimized spinning process,then design and weave fabrics and test the performance of fabrics.This study is to exploring the application of PBT filament on the elastic denim fabric, which provided references for the improvement and evolution of PBT elastic denim.Detailed researches of this topic are as follows:Firstly, investigated the tensile fracture and elastic recovery properties of PBT filament, the changes in the different conditions of fixed elongation and drawing times as well, compared the PBT filament performance changes before and after boiling processing. The research results showed that recovery properties of the PBT filament is decreased as fixed elongation and drawing times increasing; after dealing with the boiling water, the strength of the PBT filament is decreased, elongation capacity increased.Secondly, explored spinning process of cotton /PBT core-spun yarn, with a separate study the influential factors including draft ratio and twist factors, in order to confirm the scope of the parameters. The research results showed that reasonable twist factors of cotton/ PBT core-spun yarn is 360 ~ 420, preliminary draft multiple ranges from 1.0 ~ 1.1,the number is 1~3.In addition, optimized spinning technology of cotton /PBT core-spun yarn to determine the optimal spinning process. Designed two different fineness of cotton /PBT core-spun yarn, that is, 36 tex and 49 tex. Considering three factors and three levels orthogonal test, nine times experiment had been done respectively. Produced 18 kinds of cotton/PBT core-spun yarn and inspect evenness of cotton /PBT core-spun yarn. The research results showed that for 36 tex, the best combinatorial number of the cotton/ PBT core-spun yarn is 1, twist factor is 390, pre-draft ratio is 1.0; for 49 tex, the number is 3, twist factor is 390, pre-draft ratio is 1.1.Lastly, designed three kinds of fabric specifications and weaved in accordance with the commonly used denim varieties specifications. Tested the basic performance indexes of the fabric including fabric warp, weft density, square meters quality and thickness; Also tested the tensile fracture properties and fabric weft elastic recovery performance and compared the differences between them; Tested the warp and weft of fabric to wrinkle recovery performance and evaluated; Tested the wear-resisting performance of fabric and evaluated. The results showed the advantages of cotton /PBT core-spun yarn fabric on strength, elasticity and wrinkle resistance compared with pure cotton fabric.
