Research On Current Wetland Situation And Protection & And Utilization Of Shaanxi Province

Wetland is the important resource for the sustainable economic development, and has aroused great global concern for its' protection and utilization. The wetland in Shaanxi province has been decreasing owing to man's frequent movement accompanied by its' social progress and economic development, which caused severe ecological problems. This article will provide reference for the proper protection, reasonable development and engineering project of wetland resource in Shaanxi province through its research on the restoration and sustainable development of wetland.This article makes plans and sectoring for the wetland Province according to its survey on the natural resource and existing wetland in Shaanxi. It points out the bottleneck problems in such factors as technology, policies and economy through the analysis of current wetland situation, construction ability and existing problems, and provides the direction, mode, technology and techniques for the protection and restoration of wetland in Shaanxi province.The wetland spread in Shaanxi includes lake wetland, marsh wetland, marshal-meadow wetland, pond wetland and riverside wetland. Its' total area is about 292,895ha. accounting for 1.4 percent of whole Shaanxi area. It's categorized into three protective regions according to its' distinct spread characteristics: drift-sand regions along the Great Wall, the wetland region on Loess Plateau and Weihe Valley and the wetland region in Qin-Ba Mountain area.The protection and restoration of wetland is a comprehensive project. It requires strengthening the protection and management of soil, biological and water resource, the construction of nature reserves of wetland, the control of wetland pollution. Sections in forestry, agriculture, water conservancy, environmental protection and construction coordinate with each other, take biological measures to restore the wetland caused by improper function and the biological degeneration, and take engineering measures to reconstruct the type-changed and out-of-function wetland to stop the degeneration tendency of natural wetland in Shaanxi and make the wetland ecology function properly.This study focuses on the scientific evaluation of the potential for the wetland development, the categorization management of wetland protection and utilization. Different types of wetland used as the demonstration zone for reasonable development will be built so as to gradually be utilized in a sustainable way.The prime pattern for the sustainable development of wetland in Shannxi province is: The protection and restoration of wetland are given ecologically top priority, accompanied by overall plans such as having farmers and herdsmen living in nature reserves participate in the construction of wetland protection, providing them with living subsidies and technical training, spreading ecological agriculture, forestry, husbandry, fishery and tourism which help to sustainable utilization of the wetland. Thus, it not only improves the income of farmers and herdsmen living in wetland regions, but also promotes the proper protection and healthy development of wetland.
