The Product Development And Application Of Rare Earth Luminous Fibers

Rare earth luminous fibers are a kind of new material, provided with special function and technology. If this fiber absorbed any visible light only 10 minutes, it could store up light energy in fiber, and can keep shining for more than 10 hours in the dark. Moreover, the luminous fibers have kinds of colors, such as red, yellow, blue and green. Not only the fibers is colorful ,but also its final product may not need to dye, which avoided the influence of the dye to the fiber's light, and also avoided the environment polluting from the dyeing wasted water.At present, the dyeing capability and physical property of the rare earth luminous fibers have been studied comprehensively. But researches about the application of luminous fibers are rarely been seen in reports. So it is a very important question to be focused on that how to produce products with the rare earth luminous fibers. In this paper, the fiber's development and application were discussed and forecasted by means of trial production of woven fabric , knitted fabric, embroidery designs, ornaments, plush toys, and so on.In trial-produce of luminous fabric, the fabric density, thickness and structure will affect luminous brightness. For the big surface friction coefficient of luminous filaments, the luminous filaments have friction with the components such as reeds, faller wire, heald, and etc. in the manufacture of the luminous fabric, which will results in the blackening of fabric. It affects the luminous brightness of luminous fabric. When designing the knitted fabrics with luminous filaments, interlaced yarn is recommended, because the interlaced yarn is bundled well, the broken filament occurs difficultly during manufacture, which will help to produce a clean-flat luminous fabric. Woven and knitted fabric that produced with luminous fibers are applied widely in design of many kinds of garments by taking advantage of the luminous ability of luminous fibers. Luminous sewing yarn is different in brightness because of different colors. In the procedure of embroidery pattern design, different stitches and yarns of different color are applied to express the light and shade effect of pattern. The lightness of pattern in dark also can be influenced by the area of pattern and the density of stitches. The lightness of embroidery pattern can be increased by expanding the area of pattern and the density of stitches during the process of the Trial-produce of plush toy sample, plush fabric of different lightness are designed according to needs. The decorating effect of luminous fibers is emphasized by combining of luminous plush fabric and plush fabric manufactured by ordinary fibers in the same toy. Thus the plush toys get more attractive.
